Forums - Sales - THQ boss Brian Farrell expects 360 and PS3 sales to accelerate

It would be interesting to see what some of THQ's unannounced games are. It's also good to see that he has a lot of faith in HD consoles.

THQ: Current Hardware Cycle is an Even Fight

By Tom Ivan

"While the Wii has shown much early sales momentum, THQ boss Brian Farrell says there may be no clear victor in the current console cycle.

Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference, Farrell said he expects the PS3 and Xbox 360 to pick up sales momentum as hardware prices drop, reports Kotaku.

“The way we're thinking about this cycle from a high level is, the Wii at that lower price-point had a lot of momentum early in the cycle, but as Sony and Microsoft come down the price curve those two should accelerate, and there's a lot of firepower left in their arsenal.”

Farrell went on express his belief that increased PS3 and Xbox 360 sales momentum will ensure each of the platform holders enjoys success in the current hardware cycle."

i love how these people tend to think the wii will never cut its price.......

That wasn't a real analysis, just the usual ass-licking by a publisher.

Unlocked, since the other one ended up only focusing on the Nintendo aspect anyway.

"wii had a lot of momentum"

so it has less momentum now? it is still selling out and the 3 big guns: brawl/kart/fit are gonna hit in a 3 month span and it is only losing momentum that it 'had'??

Really? I thought the Wii outselling PS360 combined made it a clear victor.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

I think the real question is....what is he smoking and who is selling it to him?

I am a Pakistani.....my name is Dan....how hard is that? (Don't ask about the 101...apparantely there are more of me out there....)

The PS3/360 route is still better for a lot of developers, so people may migrate to those consoles. I still don't see the Wii third-party support people have been clamoring about for over a year now.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S.
