the market is shrinking considerably. no matter what nintendo do that wont change.

I don't believe in that, you don't make mistake and you support your handheld well you're handheld will sell well

come on man. Vita wont end one fourth of the PSP sales and 3DS wont reach one half of the DS sales, and you are telling me you dont believe the handheld market is shrinking?

ds was bought by non-gamersc and PSP had 1 million more support then Vita it had more support then Vita+3ds support combined

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

They might or might not. I give them 50/50. A few things for Sony to note: 1. Use regular Micro-SD cards, 2. Remove the back touchscreen (cost saving measure, and it's of no significant use anyway), 3. Consistent first party support and 4. As nice as OLED screens are, you might want to opt for QD LCD for durability's sake.

so you are telling me a section of the market that bought the DS isnt buying the 3DS, then go on saying that the market for handhelds isnt shrinking?

They should stop, but they're crazy enough to make a Vita 2.

I would say back in it's normal size

For me Sony made three crucial mistakes with Vita:

- Overengineeredthe device

Vita is a full generational jump from PSP.  The jump in perfomance is comparable to the one from PS2 to PS3.

This made Sony release an expansive platform in the market in a time when Nintendo had already tasted with the 3DS first months in Japan that there is no market for a $250 handheld anymore.  Nintendo had the wisdom to cut the price of the console fast while Sony was dumb enough not to take notes from this and released the platform at a high price anyway.

I really believe that Sony shouldn't have designed the Vita to be so much more powerful than the PSP.   Vita's main competitor, the 3DS is in many ways an  enhanced PSP and consumers are fine with it.     A redesigned PSP with Two analog sticks + Camera + improved screen could have been way more attractive.

-  Too many console like games for a Handheld.

Games like Uncharted, Borderlands 2, LBP and others are cool on HOME CONSOLES but not as attractive on a handheld platform.  With few exceptions like Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice and Tearaway.  Vita sometimes looks like  a platform to play games that can be enjoyed in a better way on the PS3.

- Losing Monster Hunter to Nintendo.

In my opinion this was the final nail in Vita's coffin.    In many ways this reminds me of Final Fantasy VII situation during the N64/PS1 days.

I still can't believe Sony just let Nintendo secure exclusivity of this game.  Specially considering how important this franchise was to the PSP.

MH was one of the games that defined and made the PSP succcessful in Japan.

how home console quality games is a reason why Vita it fail when they are the best selling games on Vita

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I hope not.

A) looking to nintendo it's obvious that vita's failure isn't just a vita thing. dedicated handheld sales are shriking and there isn't room for 2 players and sony isn't going to beat nintendo in the handheld space.
B) vita's lack of support burnt playstation players. even if they do come with a handheld i'm going to bid my time to ensure it is actually supported.

i would say sony should put out a vita-phone (i'd buy that) that supports android, android's app store, and some dedicated style games. ...but sony's mobile division is failing too so that probably won't happen either. just get out sony,.. nothing but losses will follow another dedicated handheld.

I think what will end up happening is Nintendo will release a new handheld, but sony will just stick with the vita. I doubt the next Nintendo handheld will much more powerful than the vita anyway. But yeah, the vita is sony's last handheld. A shame really, since to me sony's handhelds have always been better. And it's the most supported system in Japan right now.

I think they'll drop out of the handheld market, and focus in the console business. Nintendo will have 100 handheld console market share.

They should drop it, because they don't have enough commitment to try to allow it to succeed.
