Forums - Gaming - Favourite Games for Consoles you've played and why

This topic is basically asking you what your favourite games for each console you've played on and why it is.

N64: Mario kart 64 This was to tough to choose, I love DK64, but its didn't define the n64 like smash and mario kart. I spent countless ours playing smash with my sisters and by myself at times and during the era of the 64, it was my favourite n64 game. However after playing both it and Mario kart 64 over again I just enjoy Mario kart more so Mario kart is my favourite n64 game

Gamecube: Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess: The gamecube, so many games came out for it yet my family only ever bought 3 games, Smash, kart and twilight princess. I enjoyed double dash but it is one of my last favourite Mario kart's and against all those popular opinions that melee is the best smash it is my least favourite in the bunch and what game made me go wow? Twilight Princess, I enjyoed every second after I got into the first dungeon including the wolf sections. It was a very enjoyable game and to this day is my favourite Zelda.

Game Boy/GBC: Pokemon Crystal: The game body which was my first actually console that I fully owned, I had shovel ware and my sisters had Zelda however there wa sone game that I got that wasn't shovel ware that I loved to no end and that game is Pokemon Crystal, I honestly cried when my save died and played through the game countless times after that without stopping once getting a shiny elekid then losing it due to the save. Eventually the game saved again but I doubt it works now.

GBA: Pokemon Emerald: I owned quite a few GBA games such a smystery dungeon and the zelda link to the past four swords pack however the one game that I loved to no end was Pokemon Emerald I mean seriously an awesome dragon on the box? Sold! That awesome dragon in the first full blown cutscene in a pokemon game? SOLD! The difficulty? omg the 7th gym... seriously...? SOLD! It was all around a fun experience and I can't think of a game more fitting for this spot (sorry fire red you were awesome but not enough to beat emerald)

NDS: Pokemon Heart Gold: The DS, I legit have two stacks of game boxes for this ranging from pokemon mystery dungeon to Kirby super start ultra (which is the 2nd spot btw) to Pokemon diamond and Dragon quest monsters Joker. And I enjoyed the hell out of these games however when a remake of my favourite gen came out with all the improvements yea... It was done. To this day Heart Gold is my favourite Pokemon game and Game of all time, but I have to admit there is one game that came really close to dethroning it.

Wii: SSBB/MKWII: This is a legit tie, I love both of these games. If I have to go on when they were full then I'd give the win to MKWII because I loved the online in it while everyone knows brawl's online was..... 'fun'. If I talk about how they are now without online, I seriously enjoy brawl more than ever. I think its only fair I give it to both of them, no game came close and we have quite a bit of wii games, yes not even Skyward sword came close for me while it was an epic game just doesn't match up.

Wii U: Mario kart 8: I did not own one I only had access to it at my college's game room and well demos. Out of what I have played I'll have to go with Mario kart 8. I love ssbU especially since my main (yoshi) has become a beast but some OP items makes the regular play with items mode kinda... meh. 8 player smash is awesome but when I play I tend to get ganged up on because I always have a target on my back (Fukouda!). While I also have rotten luck in MK8 (random green shells always come into contact with me) I've played more of it and I enjoyed the living hell out of it. I expect this to change very soon since we own Smash and not Kart now though.

3DS: Pokemon Alpha Sapphire: OMG This game! This game! This was freaking amazing.  I played X and liked it, felt it was a weak entry into the series of pokemon though, played KI:U, was fun and very enjoyable, MK7 is a blast however no game blew me away like Alpha Sapphire and if it wasn't for how easy this game was even without the exp share on (if they just used the emerald gym leader pokemon this would be #1) this game would be my favourite game of all time.

Now what about you guys? what are you're favourite games for each system you have played and why? and Yes I have only owned nintendo and that wont be changing for a very long time. (unless sony or microsoft feel kind enough to send me a system for free)

Just doing for consoles I owned

SNES: Castlevania 4 why: this is where my gaming journy started having this as a child was sweet. I remember being super creeped by it and just loving it.

N64: Ocarina Of Time Why: This game changed my life. I wouldn't be the same person as I am today if this game did not come out. I loved and still love this game to death. So mind blowing I was just awe struck seeing the giant land in 3D and being able to just go wherever I wanted the game seemed endless as if it was the ocean thats how big it seemed at the time.

Gamecube: Smash bros melee Why: I spent countless hours on this game with all my friends unlocking every character was challenging and just super rewarding. I loved not knowing who I was going to unlock. It was a blast and I loved the graphics

Xbox 360: Halo 3 was the first halo game ive played and I absolutely loved it. My first experience with online multiplayer it was incredible.

Wii U: Super Mario 3D World Why: It was the best game ive played in recent years and the playing Co Op with a friend was just super entertaining. We 100%ed the game and I was smiling through out. It was just an incredible experience.

Sega Mega Drive: Streets of Rage. It was a fun game to play, especially co-op.

PS1: Final Fantasy VIII. My favourite game of all time.

N64: Super Mario 64. I've never collected all the stars, but I have spent plenty of hours trying and it was fun the whole time.

GB: Pokemon Crystal. It's Pokemon.

PS2: Final Fantasy X. Almost as good as VIII.

Xbox: Knights of the Old Republic II. Brilliant Star Wars RPG and a nice improvement over the original.

PS3: The Last of Us. Brilliant game, although it's very close between TLOU and Valkyria Chronicles.

X360: Mass Effect 2. The original Mass Effect game was great and then the sequel improved upon pretty much everything. Plenty to love about this game.

Wii: Super Mario Galaxy 2. I don't think it was as good as 64, but still a great game to play.

PSP: Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy. It was the only actual PSP game I played, I used it mostly for PS1 games.

DS: Pokemon Platinum. It's Pokemon.

PS4: Infamous Second Son. I loved the first 2 Infamous games and this was just another great game to play. Open world game with cool powers to use, what's not to love?

XOne: Watch Dogs. I really enjoyed it. Probably helped that I wasn't hyped at all for the game and don't care about graphics. It was just fun to play.

Wii U: Mario Kart 8. It's Mario Kart, get some local multiplayer going and you'll have a great time.

Vita: Persona 4 Golden. It's a port, but it is a really good one of a fantastic game. Really looking forward to Persona 5 now.

3DS: Pokemon X. It's Pokemon.

It's Pokemon, lol best reason ever!

You will notice a lot of Zelda here.

NES: Super Mario Bros. 2. Black sheep of the franchise, but I love it.
SNES: DKC 2, probably. Just a bit better than the first.
N64: Ocarina of Time, for obvious reasons
GC: Wind Waker. Favourite game period.
Wii: Twilight Princess. See a trend?
Wii U: Smash for Wii U, since I won't count Wind Waker HD. Always love Smash Bros.
GB: Link's Awakening, to continue the trend.
GBA: Metroid Fusion. One of my favourite in the series, very easy to pick up and play.
DS: Final Fantasy IV. Favourite in the series and my favourite version of IV.
3DS: Link Between Worlds. Was initially worried about it when it was first announced, because I thought the painting on the wall mechanic was weird, but it turned out great.
PS1: Metal Gear Solid. Holds up amazingly well.
PS2: Either Final Fantasy X or Metal Gear Solid 2. Can't choose, both great.
PS3: Uncharted 2. In my Top 5 all time favourites, improved on the first by a lot, and is just super fun.
PS4: Far Cry 4, as of now (likely to be replaced by Uncharted 4 when that comes out). May be very similar to FC3, but it was still super fun.
PSP: Oh, I don't know, Resistance: Retribution or Chains of Olympus probably. Wasn't a huge fan of the PSP, one of the few consoles I've sold.
Vita: Killzone: Mercenary or Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Both very impressive for a handheld.
360: I want to say Bioshock, even though I played it on PS3. If that doesn't count, Borderlands 2 probably.

Argh... I don't know what to say, i'm emotionless. Here goes nothing.

Sega Mega Drive: Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Holy batman, it's fast!

Sega Mega-CD: Sonic CD. The music is so rad & even fast!

Super Nintendo: Super Metroid. Maze & monsters, i like it!

PlayStation: Gex, loved his humer

N64: Super Mario 64. Addicting

Dreamcast: Sonic Adventure 2. Drama story lol

PlayStation 2: Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 2. I like Vampire

Gamecube: Super Mario Sunshine. Again, addicting.

Xbox: Halo 2. Love shootin' some Aliens, but disappointed on cliffhanger.

Gameboy: Pokemon Red/Blue. Gotta catch em all.

I do have Wii, Wii U, DS, 3DS & Xbox One with plenty of games. That's all, nothing lured me.

From the consoles I own -

PlayStation - Spyro 3 - Year of the Dragon - Cool game, cool level design... Tons of fun.

PlayStation 2 - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - This game was just mind blowing to me at the time with the sheer size and look. And it's GTA...

PlayStation 3 - The Last of Us - 3rd person laddering sections made this game for me... Good story.

Xbox - Doom 3 - It surprises me to even say this one, because I typically don't go for survivor horror games... But this one was really well done.

Xbox 360 - Mass Effect 2: Best story and universe of any game I've played (Mass Effect as a whole). ME2 just happens to be my favorite out of the 3. The loyalty missions were a huge highlight.

Xbox One - GTA V - I played this game on the 360 as well and really loved it. I feel like the next gen improvements warrent it being listed here.

Gamecube - Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door - I liked the gameplay... Art style was fantastic and it had interesting settings and music.

Wii U - Mario Kart 8 - The controls feel good and the tracks are fun.

Gameboy Color - Zelda: Oracle of Ages - The dungeons were fun and I liked the time traveling aspect to it.

Gameboy Advanced - Mario Kart: Super Circuit - I liked the game more than any of the other ones I could remember having for the GBA

3DS - A Link Between Worlds - The dungeons in this game were just so good, and I actually thought the item rentals added a bit of freedom to the game in a good way.

Consoles I've played, but don't own:

SNES - A Link to the Past - My favorite Zelda... I really have no other reason?

Genesis - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - I liked the variety of zones and the fact that almost all the zones were only 2 stages long. And Tails.

Wii - Super Mario Galaxy - I don't really need to explain this right?

PS4 - Infamous: Second Son - Cool powers, good looking game world to roam in.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

NES: Super Mario Bros. 3 - One of the most 'fluid' games on the NES, and overall awesome game.

SNES: Super Metroid - Brilliant graphics, atmosphere, music, level design, and bosses. Overall PERFECT game, imo.

N64: LoZ Majora's Mask - Creepy atmosphere, great music, and unique story.

PS2: GTA San Andreas - Big open world, good story.

Gamecube: Metroid Prime - Same reason as Super Metroid. PERFECTION.

Wii: Super Mario Galaxy - Great story, amazing soundtrack and visuals, brilliant level design.

Xbox 360: Bioshock - Creepy atmosphere, amazing story and level design. Plasmids were great.

3DS: LoZ Link Between Worlds - Fluid gameplay, great story, and better dungeons.

Wii U: Super Smash Bros Wii U (So far) - Great graphics, gameplay, soundtrack, replay value.

PS1 : Final Fantasy VII ( FFVII introduced me to the Final Fantasy franchise and to RPGs)
Gamecube/Wii : Resident Evil games
PS3 : Final Fantasy XIII, Resident Evil games and Uncharted games.
PS4 : The Last of Us Remastered

( I loved all those games for their stories mostly, I also loved the gameplay, the characters and everything in those games. Also I had a fun time getting the Plat in all those games, especially Resident Evil 5 and 6 that I platinumed with one of my friend )
