Forums - Gaming - Favourite Games for Consoles you've played and why

N64: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time - this game got so much right back then that wasn't really tried or didn't properly work out up until that point; fluently controlling your character around 3D environments, awesome areas; great dungeon designs and a ton of sidequests will keep you busy for some time.

GCN: Super Smash Bros. Melee - the game that got me into SSB and fighters in general. It's combat was fast but the controls were always spot on; if you lost, you were the one to blame; also one of my first GCN games, so I hold it closesly to my heart because of nostalgia. (I guess I actually would've gone for Wind Waker, but I like to vary things a little)

Wii: Super Mario Galaxy - great platforming, supreme music (really, some of the best I've heard from a video game) it has a certain appeal/charme to it which I can't quite describe. Let's call it 'Nintendo magic' (don't hate me to the ground pls :P)

Wii U: Mario Kart 8 - fast paced racing, good online matches, outstanding art direction - the must-have game thus far into Wii U's life

PS2: Metal Gear Solid 3 - Never was there a more epic story told in a video game in my opinion. Goes together perfectly with great controls (CQC) and awesome graphics.

PS3: Red Dead Redemption - What a vast world to explore. It really made me feel isolated, like a real western hero.

Dreamcast: Shenmue and Shenmue II - the games are good

Around the Network

SNES: Final Fantasy 3 (or 6 whatever): An amazing soundtrack matched with a story that always surprised me by it's depth for a SNES game

GameBoy: Pokemon Yellow: My first game ever and it always brings back great memories of my childhood

N64: Conker's Bad Fur Day: One of Rare's best games imo and it still makes me laugh

PS1: Silent Hill: One of the few horror games that I'll play and is filled with symbolism and some generally frightening moments

Gamecube: Wind Waker: Graphics that still look good to this day and an epic atmosphere of adventure

PS2: Persona 3: Well made combat system and great characters matched with a very dark storyline

GBA: Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town: I lost so many hours in this game and I always had fun with it

PS3: MGS 4:
Guns of the Patriots (or I guess the best movie): amazing story and ended Snake's story in an amazing way

Wii: Xenoblade Chronicles: One of the most well-polished and rewarding RPGs I've played

3DS: Fire Emblem Awakening:
Great story and characters plus bonus waifu sim ;)

Wii U: Super Smash Bros. Wii U: Improved the formula and had better multiplayer plus so many features but it's too soon to make a final call

NES - (Super Mario Bros. 3) first game I have ever played in my life, loved it so much I had to ask my dad to buy me the console.

Playstation - (Suikoden 2) first ever RPG that I played and basically made me love RPG's, the story just pulled me in that I want see how the ending goes.

Playstation 2 - (Musashi: Samurai Legend) loved the character design, loved the different sword upgrades, and I was a sucker for the cell-shaded look when I first saw it.

Xbox360 - (Red Dead Redemption) the best openworld I have ever played, really love the old western fell of it, finished it 3 times, the ending though "just sad". . .

Playstation 3 - (inFamous 2) enjoyed every bit of it, made me feel like an overpowered being capable of destroying everything in sight, love collecting new powers too.

Nintendo 3DS - (Animal Crossing: A New Leaf) I really love building/designing a town from the ground up, it just make me fill accomplished whenever I finish and make my town look beautiful after a lot hours I've put into it.

Nintendo Wii U - (Mario Kart 8) poured a lot of hours into it, just can't stop playing it when it came out, loved the graphics/art style, and it was my very first Mario Kart.

Nintendo Switch FC: SW-6340-7643-4233 aka Renji

Steam: Lee Roid

NES: Geez, where do I start? I'll have to go with Contra. Just remembering the times I had with that game and my late big brother. We'd play til 4 AM and then start back on it as soon as we woke up. We'd beat it about 15 times a day LOL.

Game Gear: Shinobi, because it's the only game I had on the handheld.

Game Boy: Tetris. Had that game forever as my only game because my parents wouldn't buy me a new game. Said I had too many already lol.

Sega Master System: Double Dragon. Again, times with my brother. I remember one time at the end of the game where we'd have to fight to see who gets the girl. He came up with the idea that we'd both walk off the edge, essentially giving up our own lives rather than fight a brother. Well, just before the edge that f%#ker stops and I go plunging to my death LOL. He gets the girls. For the next 20 years whenever I'd beat him at something, be it basketball, video games, billiards, etc. I'd say: "That's what your punk ass gets for making me walk off the edge!" Can't have those memories without Double Dragon.

Genesis: Altered Beast. Admittedly, I was a huge Nintendo fanboy back in the day. Only because I was a good student did I own so many non-Nintendo consoles. I owned many Genesis games but I remember how awe-Inspiro Altered Beast was when I first played it. Level 3's "Werebear" was the most badass character is ever controlled in a video game. Possibly all the way up until Kratos LOL.

SNES: Tecmo Super Bowl: Fin Edition. More time spent with big brother Dru. We'd go through the season mode over and over again. If only my Niners and his Bills were always so dominant. One thing o remember most is how his team was never able to recover onside kicks. I'd keep onside kicking and getting TDs or FGs out of it. I'd go up 40-0 before I'd give him the ball lol.

N64: Can't really remember the name of this game. Has something to do with an Ocarina of some sort LOL. Another little anecdotal report: I was in the 9th grade when this game released. Staring SG on my JV basketball team. I intentionally got detention and skipped it it order to get 3 days suspension so I'd have time to play Ocarina of Time. I binge played that game and finished it before having to return to school. I was suspended 2 basketball games and lost my starting spot but to this day I consider it a win.

PSOne (Worst... Console... Ever!): Again, was once a huge Nintendo fanboy and hated how much love PSOne was getting. Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style is my favorite PSOne game because it's the only game Id ever owned on the console. I was (and still am!) a huge Wu-Tang Clan fan and at that time in my life if it were Wu-related I had to own it.

PS2: Dark Cloud 2. This game stood as my all time favorite video game for awhile. In fact, it is what turned me into an action RPG fanatic. The weapon leveling and creating, Georama Mode, Spheda, and the awesome Ridepod. So disappointed that we've still not gotten a Dark Cloud 3.

PS3: Dragon's Dogma. And here is the game that usurped Dark Cloud 2 as my all time favorite game. And there it still sits. Oddly enough, I hates the demo to this game and almost didn't pick it up. Glad that didn't happen! The combat in Dragon's Dogma is unlike any I've seen in an RPG. It's more than just holding a single button until the target falls. No, you had to block, dodge, sneak, and sometimes run if you're overwhelmed. Not to mention your character's size and weight determines his or her inventory carrying capacity and movement speed. And using Pawns created by other players is fun. If you get stuck on a mission you can enter the rift, find a pawn who's done that mission previously, and they can direct you where to go. I'm begging for a sequel!!!

PS4: Shadow Of Mordor. Awesome game and I love the LOTR universe. It's far too short but the combat (that actually rewards for not button mashing) and gore are lovely. I love how a generic Uruk can go from random bad guy #1 to War Chief if he kills you enough times.

PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS

A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!
