I can't remember when games came out but GT3, GTA3, HSG3 and FFX were all first day buys. For my PS3 most of my games have been bought on the first day.

Never have, never will. A game's the same whether I buy it for £40 day 1 or £5 on eBay 3 years later. I own and play a stack load of games because I'm willing to wait til they're cheap.

I was a huge fan of the Ultima series (from Ultima 3 - 7) and not only did I buy each one the week they were released but I also had to buy a new PC for at least two of them. When you're a kid having to come up with $1200-$1800 in 1980s/early 90s dollars it was difficult.

Tales of Symphonia. Or it would have been if I didn't have to spend a week looking for a copy of the game.

The only thing I've ever pre-ordered in my life was the Wii. I knew millions of non-gamers and ex-gamers would go nuts over the new controller like me and it would be hard to get FOREVER, and I'm so glad I pre-ordered it.

My first day purchases have been:

The DS (zomg touch-screen!)

Bomberman DS (zomg 8 player Bombman with only one game card!)

Mario Kart DS (zomg online Mario Kart!)

The Wii (zomg motion sensing, Wii Sports, the revolution!)

I only do day 1 purchases for things that truly deeply make me say zomg. Now that the DS and Wii have turned me into a super-gamer all over again, I plan on buying Brawl, Wii Fit, Spore, and StarCraft 2 as day 1 purchases, and maybe Mario Kart Wii, but these are all assuming I can keep my hands off Brawl long enough to walk somewhere and buy something.

My first was my Sega Megadrive bundled with Altered Beast and it's "rise from your gwave"!! chilling screams. Saved up for ages and I remember the first game I played right through to completion was Moonwalker on the Mega drive, what a console that was.

I'll always thank it for introducing me to games like Shadow Dancer

It was the N64 launch with Mario 64.
