The only thing I've ever pre-ordered in my life was the Wii. I knew millions of non-gamers and ex-gamers would go nuts over the new controller like me and it would be hard to get FOREVER, and I'm so glad I pre-ordered it.
My first day purchases have been:
The DS (zomg touch-screen!)
Bomberman DS (zomg 8 player Bombman with only one game card!)
Mario Kart DS (zomg online Mario Kart!)
The Wii (zomg motion sensing, Wii Sports, the revolution!)
I only do day 1 purchases for things that truly deeply make me say zomg. Now that the DS and Wii have turned me into a super-gamer all over again, I plan on buying Brawl, Wii Fit, Spore, and StarCraft 2 as day 1 purchases, and maybe Mario Kart Wii, but these are all assuming I can keep my hands off Brawl long enough to walk somewhere and buy something.
