Months ago I mentioned that these were the types of announcements that I was expecting publishers to make alongside their year end financial statements ...

Sega is in the "Interesting" position that their two of their highest selling games of the last financial year are probably two of the games with the shortest development times and lowest budgets. Being that Sega is not in that good of a financial position they would be foolish not to support the Wii more heavily. With that said, only a fool would look at a publisher like Sega promising further "casual" support for the Wii as being a good thing because the market for those games is getting fairly crowded ...

If Skies of Arcadia 2 is announced then I may just buy a Wii.

But Sega's done good on the Wii.

Sonic/secret rings is a million seller

M&S has shipped 5 million (Sold 4), and bested their expectations.

The topic title is confusing, he says the Wii IS NOT a casual console.

Read the whole post, lol. This goes to everybody else too!

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Well the rumours of a sequel were already there, the first game was on GC (from Dreamcast), and Sega supports Wii very much, developing for Wii is cheaper which is preferable for JRPG's that are not FF these days. This statement only makes it even more realistic that the sequel will come to Wii (and I can't wait, the first one was (despite awful graphics) a very good game.

@HappyS: Yep, much more of these announcements will come. It's impossible to sell a businessplan to your shareholders without having decent games for Wii in that plan.

Admitting failure on the internet?

You're new here aren't you? ^_^

I think admitting failure is an epic win. Gratz mosoteto, you epic won.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Makes sense.

If you ruled out other kinds of products because one was selling the best everyone would be making minigame collections on the wii and ignoring everything else.

Platform seems irrevelant if it's going to get you more profit the other ventures.

SEGA doesn't seem to want to admit how guilty they are of this offense while rallying other third parties to the cause of "hardcore" games. I hope this will change their focus to making quality software, instead of the average crap they've been handing in. I think this would have been a lot more impactful if SEGA would have used that same speech to announce something of substance for the Wii. Alas, we can only hope SEGA will take it's own advice.

Yes, it would definitely make my day... there was a rumor about it a few months ago, don't know if you knew about it or not, so here's the link...

If only Sega could confirm it's indeed a Wii sequel, then i'll forgive them for all their recent so-so Wii games (Secret Rings, Monkey Ball, Nights), and buy it on day one...

The first Skies of Arcadia is still my favorite RPG after all these years, let's hope they don't mess with the franchise...
