Amiibo will do more money than Xbox Live/PSN combined.. That shit already sold 2,5 million in one month in the US. And there is a new wave almost each week.

Amiibos sold 2.5M in Nov + December combined. PS+ has 11M (10.9M as of Jan. 4th) by itself and costs $50 while an Amiibo costs $12. 2.5M Amiibos @ $12 = $30M. 11M PS+ subs @ $50 = $550M. If they keep this pace of 2.5M per 2 months that is $180M. This is way way WAY behind PS+ and it doesn't even include Xbox LIVE.

In other words, your claim is HIGHLY unlikely, especially since PS+ and Live are recurring costs while a $12 Amiibo is not.

Edit - Nintendo rep says "Total sales", meaning Amiibos sales are very like not US only. Just in case you were wondering.

If we're talking profit I could see the amiibo pulling in more than the sub services. IIRC PSN gives a payment to the developer for each download of a PS+ free title, plus the cost of maintenance on online services, while the amiibo is a dirt cheap item to make in bulk and requires no maintenance. There's also going to be a trading card format and implementation on another platform so sales will likely pick up going forward.

Also, if they're comparing total amiibo figures to total smash figures than they'd have sold over 4mil by now at 2:1. I honestly expect more from the Japanese tbh, what with their general love of figures.

Yeah, an Amiibo probably costs about $1 to get onto retailer shelves. So the margin on amiibo will be huge. Maintaining an online service probably has pretty tight margins. $0.5Bn revenue for PSN probably gets Sony $10 million profit. $50 million sales of amiibos probably gives Nintendo $30 million profits (retailers gotta get something).

Happy with those Captain Toad numbers. Should make a nice profit for Nintendo, considering it was a budget title. Plus it should have good legs. :)

Official Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Thread

I'm happy to see an overall improvement from last year. I'm glad for Captain Toad, hopefully it'll reach 500k.. That would be a total success!

Poor VITA, if it weren't for Japan and Japanese developers... It'd be officially dead.

I hope Assassin's Creed saw a decline from last year, in quality it did for sure, but sales matter. Let it fall off, go downfall in quality and sales for the next 3-5 years until becoming irrelevant.

I'm sorry, but the fact that Treasure Tracker outsold Bayonetta 2 it's just genuinely sad.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Sony should keep ps4 at 399 .. If they can keep selling at the rate they are selling.. It would help the entire company..

Turning one good thing into a bad one? Bayonetta is selling fine, has legs, is a niche game that many people just don´t know or trust about, but this is a Nintendo game, with Toad on the cover and released on Xmas for 40$, there must be thousands of parents buying it for their sons on Xmas!! I don´t think is sad at all, i´m very glad for Captain Toad, I just hope Bayonetta keep selling on 2015 as much as in 2014.
