Forums - Nintendo - No Charger Included!? Seriously!?

I seriously cannot comprehend how anybody can defend this horrible anti-consumer move. It is beyond belief that people find any justification for a company selling an incomplete product.

Shoes without laces? Just use laces from your previous shoes!
Washing machine without hoses? Use the hoses from your old machine!

Car without tyres? Use those from your old car! Or just buy new ones, you're spending €20000 on a car, you might as well spend €400 on tyres, you cheapskate! We don't provide tyres to help you save money!

And for Nintendo to even say that they are not including a charger to help you save money by making you buy a charger separately is just ridiculous.

Remember XOne and headphones. XBox fans stood up, called MS out, and forced them to include the headphones. Had they just stood there and kept justifying it, they would have needed to spend more money. And guess what? XOne didn't get a single cent more expensive.

I understand that each gaming company has its fans. I understand the loyalty involved. But you should not just accept it and bend over, people need to realize that companies are there to service you, not the other way around.

Nintendo fans, I know that you love that company. from what I see and read, you are probably the most loyal, most hard-core, most homogenous gaming population in the world. But that doesn't mean that Nintendo should be allowed to get a free pass on any or every poor anti-consumer decision they make. Because, the more you accept it and allow it, the more you will be taken advantage of in the future.

Yeah it's probably the only system you can buy without being able to use it.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Let's boycott them and buy as many chargers as we can so nobody will be able to buy them. Maybe scalp them for lots of monies while we're at it.

holy shit. the charges could be the new amiibos or gamecube adapter gate. Nintys profit plans are realease very little of everything and create huge demand.

You take for granted that the majority of buyers already own a previous Ninty portable with a compatible charger and you take for granted that the rest be happy with having to buy a proprietary one, almost surely more expensive, instead of a standard USB one. If the move were really to give users more choice and possibly make them save a few bucks, the obvious and honest choice would have been to use standard chargers, not proprietary ones.
This way, instead, only users already owning a previous and not too old Ninty portable get a possible advantage (and only if they really didn't want another charger, otherwise, buying it separately will surely cost them more).
Weak excuse is weak.

If you can't afford about $5-$10 for a charger, you probably shouldn't be buying a $200 handheld gaming device that plays $40 games. If you don't feel what Nintendo is asking for is reasonable, please do not purchase a new 3DS and contact Nintendo as to why you are not purchasing the new handheld. Purchase a Vita instead, it comes with a charger but just be wary of memory card prices.

I use to think like you guys as AUS has always had the charger in the box but it really isn't that much of a deal.

You could use the money you saved to buy an amiibo.

Because here in Australia, the new 3DS XL cost around $250      And the Charger for the NEW 3DS cost $15 - 18.

If they added the charger to the handheld, it will probably increase like $10+

Sooooooooo, Nintendo is doing "already owned 3DS" owners a favor.  You could use that money to buy an amiibo.

Don't see what the problem is! It's not like the handheld is targeting a new audience, the ones interested in this already have chargers for their 3DS. This is a non issue however you consider it.

I honestly don't understand this?

Did Nintendo really say: "Screw it, we sold 50 million handhelds, that's it. No new customers are available! Let's just issue a revision and target those same 50 million again!"

Do you really think that the customer reaction would be the same if Sony or MS issued a new revision of X360 or PS3 now (or XOne and PS4 in a few years) and told everybody: "Controller not included! Surely you have one from your old console!" "We don't care for new buyers at all. Screw you! Where have you been by now? And for your failure to support us previously, you deserve to pay a premium on your purchase!"

I wouldn't even expect Microsoft to pull this. Nintendo has gone too far! I have no 3DS or DS. I still play my PSP for handheld gaming. I was interested in buying a new 3DS for Xenoblade, but now I may not. It's not the cost of the charger, but the principal of this greedy decision.
