Haven't folded for ages, I just don't really like leaving my PS3 on for so long (though it is a good opportunity to recharge controllers)

@Munkeh
I leave my PS3 on for 2 weeks during the holidays since I'm either playing or folding, no problems.
@Skeezer
It uses the combined idle computing power of participating PS3 and PC's to perform calculations which simulate the folding of proteins. They believe that certain deseases such as cancer and alzheimer's may be caused by improper folding of proteins. By running simulations, they can see where things might go wrong and that might lead to a cure. That's just my take on it, more info is available on their site.
@Skeezer
Like Dogs Rule said, folding@home uses the processor in your computer or ps3 to simulate protein folding.
Taken from the folding@home website: "Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they assemble themselves, or "fold." "
Little is known about this protein folding, so more knowledge is hoped to contribute to cures for many diseases.
