Forums - Nintendo - Does Kirby and the Rainbow Curse even have a chance of selling well?

A traditional Kirby game would have sold well (more then Captain Toad), this game will do worse then Toad, probably 200k LT but thats fine its a budget title and I'm not even sure its getting a retail release?

Yes, it is. The box art for it was released to the public a while ago.

There's nothin stopping 2015 from being a better year for wii u in japan. it's not like it's a 5 year old console. there is no market saturation.

and just to make sure, you think wii u will only sell another 400k in japan for the rest of it's life?

There is something stopping the WII U from selling more in 2015 and it's called "games that Japan are interested in" ... The only game that Japan is even remotely interested in this year for the WII U is Kirby and pre-order numbers don't look too encouraging ...

Did you do your arithmetic correctly ? Cause (2.13 x 1.25 = 2.66) and (2.66 - 2.13 = 0.53) so yes I think the WII U will only be able to pull off 530K for the rest of it's life in Japan ...

The WII U barely even pulled off 500K last year in Japan while suffering a 40% drop from 2013 ...

saying kirby is the only game japan is interested this year makes me wonder if you're even being serious.

Japan is not interested in Zelda or even Xenoblade Chronicles X!

The only next game I can think of is SMTxFE and there's been no release date or any info since it was announced so at this point it's vaporware until any further updates come along ...

You tell me, what other games are Japan is interested on the WII U ...

PS. Making assumptions about an unannounced title is not acceptable for your response ...

making assumptions without evidence is not acceptable for your argument. wii U has 9 announced first party games for 2015 and many of those should sell more than rainbow curse. Zelda, xenoblade, star fox, mario party and possibly splatoon.

Yeap, I'm done here ...

I'm not wasting anymore time on a wretched back and forth ...

Do you honestly believe that Zelda and Xenoblade have a chance at increasing WII U's hardware sales in Japan despite the fact that their previous games bombed in that region ?

Their previous games didn't bomb and you said japan is more interested in kirby than those games = hardware sales weren't being discussed, although those titles will certainly have an effect.

No, it won't sell well at all. The Wii U is a system where games that don't do something irresistible, it won't sell. If they'd done another platformer in the form of Return to Dreamland then it would sell better. Then again, Triple Deluxe didn't sell that well either in the US.

But that's exactly what I was discussing about ...

An interest in a game is CRUCIAL to hardware sales and I doubt those games will move the WII U more than Kirby will ...

If you want to continue then PM me and see if I even respond back otherwise don't bother because we're derailing this thread ...
