Forums - Gaming - Console Save Game Storage

As a a PS4 user since launch I utlise the online Cloud backup for save games.  I think the service is a nice feature although there are a couple of parts I dislike (1. only uploading when in rest mode 2. The 1gb Limit).  The limit is awful and I am already running into this a year after the console is released especially with games like GTA V and Singstar (dont ask) taking up 100mb+.  Sure you can manage the online storage yourself but when its touted as a feature, you shouldnt really have to select which games to upload and those which have uploaded which to remove.  It is after all meant to be automatic.  I would really like SONY to increase this to around 10gb with a view to further increases over the years.

May I ask XBOX 1 users - how much cloud storage for save games do you guys have on your console?

I like Steam's method on where its in a "per game" biases rather than a "total amount" but steam is not perfect since not everygame has cloud storage enabled which is the shitty part but I think thats a better method of cloud storage

Cause some games have like 5mb of cloud storage but their save files are like 250kb where as other games have 2gb of cloud storage but their save files are 150mb

I really hope the issues with PS+ cloud saves is fixed this year by E3, WWE 2K15 has something like an 840MB save file. I have multiple other games that are over 250MB. Basically, it is a useless feature, and besides online gaming, it is the biggest selling point for PS+.

For now I back up important save files to a USB stick, just so I don't loose 50 hours of gameplay. Sometime this year though I expect to have 4 PS4's, and I don't want to be having to transfer saves via USB. I recommend hammering PS Blog, PS Share, and the PS forums with this issue.

Screw the Steam method. Whatever they do made my lose all my save progress on some games multiple times. I disabled that shit forever.

As for the OP I can't believe you already used it up. The 1gb is available for both ps3, ps4 and vita which comes up to 3gb overall. I'm not sure How much mine has left in PS4 but for my PS3 and Vita I'm not even close to half way. They should probably increase the size for the PS4 because of the save file increase size.

Its probably the syncing cause if you say play a game in offline mode and then u save it and then u go online, it will have two different versions of the samefile. But it should ask u if u want to over write it or not

Hmm weird, do you play it in multiple different PCs with the same account? Although, even then, it should ask u if u want to over write it or not so idk, maybe it was a bug or something

Its actually incredibly easy to use up. Here are 6 games (i am leaving off singstar as if I tried to upload the entire save data it would be just a tad under 2gb so I had to manually select saves).

Minecraft - 144.8mb
GTA V - 134.3mb
Infamous - 52.4mb
Playroom - 90.5mb
Dragon Age - 100.7mb
Drive club - 115.4mb

On another note - i would advise everyone to check that they are indeed uploading to the online storage. It is all too easy to disable the feature. Mine never seemed to upload when powered on even though automatic uploads were enabled. It only does it when its in rest mode (with internet connectivity enabled).

I'll check tom for the storage but mine uploads after I close the game and not in rest mode.
