End of 2013 we had 40.42m sold, and 42.73m shipped. So 2.31m on shelves ...................................


Oh seece I m too drowsy to express my opinion!The only thing I will say is that you ignore New3ds/xl sales in Japan and that are coming in the west,stock clear-out and the discontinuation of the old versions...

Hence going from a supposed 2.31m on shelves to 1m. It won't be less than 1m on shelves. Also we already know Japan sales.

Unfortunately the site has a history of overtracking 3DS as well.

Vita did 2.2m this year, why would it be discontinued and not hit 10m??

nope. 12m is exceedingly optimistic. 11-11.5 *maybe*. but at this point the vita's not outselling 2014, or 2013, and certainly not 2012, in 2015. it's on its way out before it hits 15m (which at this rate, assuming no decline from 2014, would be sometime in 2017). this year should have been far better--the slim was introduced with a decent bundle and everything. and it crashed. plus, there's no telling what such low sales do to vgchartz's model. only other system selling that badly is the original wii.

Congrats 3DS! I knew it would happen by the end of 2014. It's amazing how the little handheld that could was able to turn everything around for itself and its market.
