Forums - Sales - When will DK:TF, Lego City, and Pikmin 3 hit 1m? (Retail)

Donkey Kong is currently at .91m

Pikmin 3 and Lego City are at .87m

I know both of these have sold 1m+ because of digital, but when will they hit 1m retail?

Thinking around March for Donkey Kong and June for Pikmin and Lego City

(Nintendo legs)

dk tropical freeze in a few months, sometime before e3--it almost sold a million in ~10 months. pikmin 3 is already there with digital, but physical sales have slowed a lot. still, it'll eke it out in a year or so. (i expect nintendo will announce 1m retail + digital sometime in 2015--it was an mk8 promotional game in the us and in europe, after all.) same with lego city undercover. later this year, but it's definitely a glide path to a million.

I'd imagine DK will be earlier than March. I'm thinking late Jan-February at the latest. Pikmin and Lego City will probably be around May/June.

Actually, both games are over 1 million already! DKC:TF is tracking at 0.91 the week before Christmas, and week ending on Dec 28 is sufficient long to manage bigger sales for everything, so it may be at retail over one million as of Dec 31, more with digital, Pikmin 3 was likely the favorite game of MK8 promotion, so it may be over 1 million counting retail+digital since a long time ago, also without the promotion it may be there before June, same with LEGO City... ZombiU may reach 1 million before 2016, Hyrule Warriors too.

problem with zombiu is supply. as long as it's at best buy, walmart and target and the like (in the us), it'll continue to sell slowly but steadily and get to the million. with digital zombiu is already there. pikmin 3 is having supply issues atm, i hope they fix that as it's a perfect legs game. lego city undercover and tropical freeze seem to be having no such problems, which makes me much more confident that they will both make 1m retail (which i think is the op's question).

Both Pikmin 3 and Lego City are discontinued so they certainly won't cross 1 million at retail but they can keep selling digitally.

I guess Tropical Freeze pulled through after all.

The real question is when will these 3 games be considered profitable. I would imagine Lego city already has been (the graphics/formula has been built for many games in the lego universe now, afterall). Not sure how much pm3 or tropical freeze cost to develop. Freeze is 2-d but rendered in 3d and looks stunningly detailed.

i really want to play pikmin3 but i cant find copy of Pikmin 3 any where in my country, buying things on eshop is not too convenient when the system memory is sooo tiny( come on, Nintendo). and im too poor to buy external hdd

. same goes for DK:TF but i played it at my friend house. it was terrible so i dont feel like i miss anything.

pikmin 3 is a pretty small file size, i think around 4gb in all.. they really need to sort out their supply issues with that game tho, i think they bottlenecked sales in 2014 with that..
