If I would have known that, knowing the big glutton I am, I would have bought it. But hindsight that it still not worth it, since I already have a 3D Blu-Ray player (my PS3)...
I guess everything happens for a reason!
It sounds to me that, in your situation, waiting was the correct decision. So don't worry about it and you can always get one later 
No, there is no need to buy one this early if you are still not done with your PS3 and you will be able to get it at a better price down the line.
