Forums - Sony - Should I have bought a PS4 if...

So I COULD HAVE bought a PS4 during the Holidays (I wanted to post this up earlier, but I was too into the all the games I splurged  on :-/) at a great price too: $330 after taxes. A local mom and pops shop (slang for small business) was having their own Black Friday sale on it, and I strongly pondered getting one. Question I have for PS4 owners is, should I have STILL gotten one if:

  • All the PS4 games I want are on the PS3
  • Great Graphics aren't necessary for me to enjoy a game (I still play PSP and DS games)
  • I use my PS3 as a 3D Blu-Ray player, and 3D capabilities aren't available on the PS4 yet (least last I heard, but I admit I haven't done my research on this for a while)
  • No PS4 exclusives appeal to me at this time (not until SFV anyway).
  • No backwards compatibility to the PS3 (I would have bought one release date it was, as I bought many old PS3 games this holiday I haven't played yet).
  • Only game I am interested in for this year is the DMC reboot (but again this is available on the PS3).
  • By the time games come out for it that I want, it will probably be cheaper (this same store has specials like this on Black Friday every year. Maybe a price cut would make their Black Friday price $300 for 2015?).

So even with all my preferences, should I have still gotten a PS4? Is there something I am missing or don't know about that I didn't mention?

Of course not. If you're satisfied with your PS3 and graphics mean little or nothing to you, $330 is $330 too much.

No, go ahead and wait till more games your interested in come out. Especially if your still enjoying your PS3.

Why do you feel the need to get one if there is literally no need for you to get one?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Ps4 it the best console on the market. At that price you definitely should have bought it.

Wait as long as you like to. There's no rush.

I seriously don't how you aren't interested in ONE game on it. There's no man's sky if you like exploration, the order if you like cool atmosphere, MGSV, Bloodborne if you like fantasy, Uncharted if you like funny action-adventure, and many more third parties I've not mention, and probably a few exclusives I forgot to mention. If none of these interest you, I don't know what you play.

You've already answered your own question in the OP.

You don't care about graphics and the games you really want are still going to be released on PS3... When you actually want things that are only available on the PS4, you'll likely pay a lower price due to price cuts, so hold off on that purchase :P.

Because everyone and their dead grandmoms are getting one. Peer pressure is a BETCH!

Another reason why I considered it is maybe everyone is getting it for a reason I don't know. Hence why I wanted to be educated (Like a MAJOR exclusive for it not going to be on PS3). Another thing I wanted to know is if I can play 3D movies on the PS4 if I have a 3D TV. I bought a PS3 initially ONLY as a Blu-Ray player but when my X360 RRODed on me it was a god send...

You...just listed four games, two of which are entirely unproven, all four of which aren't out yet.

And one of the two from proven franchises will be on his PS3.
