The price of wii sports was added to the price of the wii console so no it wasn't given away for free. Still im very impressed with GTAVs sales numbers and kind of wonder how they got so high. I don't know many people at all who actually own it compared to GTA4 and the PS2 ones back in the day.

Congrats though. Huge cashflow achieved.

GTA V is the best story based video game of all time. That takes care of the Wii sports argument.

Since gta first existed Mario sold way less.  Gta more relevant now 

Since GTA first existed just excludes Super Mario Bros out of the top 5. Top 8 Mario games released after GTA outsell the entire franchise. 

 

Nearly 7 games, just 1 million off.

You can't count handheld Marios. Apples to apples.

No, it wasn't. You could not buy a Wii without the game. The price of entry was $250 and only with Wii Sports.

Well writen stories you mean ? Don't think so. Gta serie have many qualities, but the story-telling and narration are not one of the package for me. Gta games are poorly writen. The character have little to no depth whatsoever mainly because while rockstar know how to create interesting main characters (Trevor and John marston) they don't really know what to do with them. End of their games are also very poor.
