Which of the "Big 3" won the sales war?

Sony 96 52.75%

Microsoft 17 9.34%

Nintendo 29 15.93%

Consumers WON! 18 9.89%

3rd Parties with their incomplete games! 7 3.85%

Console gaming is almost dead so who cares? 3 1.65%

Total:182

I say reading between the lines because it seems Sony and their PS4 was the clear cut winner in terms of Sales, but let's dig in a little Deeper. I'm speaking in terms of profit.

PS4 has sold the most units, yes. Also, their is 10.9 million playstation plus owners worldwide. And Sony game cards are selling Fantastic as well (they had a SEPARATE LINE at MANY Gamestops just for people buying Sony Cards). But SONY as a company is in a dire condition. Hell everyone talks about Nintendo being finished but Sony actually lost more last year than Nintendo did. That and many say Sony is getting little profit from the PS4. And bundling it up with GTA V and TLOU for the Holidays probably broke them even selling each one of those bundled consoles.

Microsoft broke Wii U's back with that crazy price drop and swiped US sales away from PS4 this Holiday. But it has yet to be seen if such of bold move was a smart one. Will anyone still buy X1 after the holidays? They took 2nd place in the console race, but at what cost? Granted X1 games are selling like Hotcakes (CoDs, FIFAs, AC, NBA games etc.) but they have to share profit with the developers and publishers.

The biggest Anomaly is Nintendo. On Paper the Wii U was a complete dud this holiday. They also netted a little below a billion lost this year. And there little Mall campaign didn't do much for Wii U sales (probably lost some money too)But, SMASH for 3DS sold great. Pokémon outdid Advanced Warfare AND GTA V on any sole console (Surprise of the Year). Smash on the Wii U is selling great as well (has sold more than MK8 in a 4 week span). Plus there's a ratio saying that for every person who bought Smash Wii U also bought an Amiibo. So AT LEAST 1.91 Millions Amiibo's have been sold. Also, they can fall back in the 3DS, which didn't do to shabby either. Then again, I think we ALL expected the Wii U to make it to 10 million sold by the end of this year (I thought this way until mid November, when no Wii U sales were budging). I also feel Microsoft took a potential million buyers away from the Wii U with that unbelieveable price drop.

If I missed anything please add to the discussion.

So, in your opinion which of the Big 3 won the sales war?

Nintendo lost money for 3 years straight, have they made it back yet?? Because thats something that hasnt happened in forever. Not only that but they cant just fall back on handhelds because their sales are at an all time low.
PS4 can be sold for $0 profit (hell even a slight loss) as they are making plenty of money off of PS+ and software sales which will only grow as that install base grows. Thats why MS are ok with taking a hit now if its needed to increase hardware sales, they can afford it now and try and make money back on subs and software.

The Consumers won by Microsoft giving out great deals to compete.

If you lived close, I would let you play on my secondary console in the living room.. LOL

I'm betting they will drop their pants next year too. So save for black friday of 2015, if  you have not already bought in.

The ps4 is selling higher than expectations set by the company, the wii u sold below expectations

from a business stand point who won?

Hard to say without them revealing the numbers.

PS4 sold very well.
I doubt anything else Sony sold better than ok.
Xbone sold well.
MS have windows and such that no doubt sold a fair bit.
Wii U sold ok.
Smash sold very well.
3DS sold well.
Yokai Watch sold a metric shittonne.
Amiibos sold like hotcakes.

All in all, Id like to think Nintendo profited the most this Holidays.

Consumers won.

Xbone had great bundles spurring great sales and then Sony followed suit with a few great PS4 bundles.
