GBA would've sold 100+ million easy had it not been cut short. Probably 120 million in all honesty.

It would have been destroyed by the PSP before even reaching 100M

Those 2 devices didn't really aim at the same audience.

PSP-$249.99, PS2-level visuals for console-like experience along with strong emphasis on multimedia capabilities

GBA SP-$79.99, SNES-level visuals with a strong focus on retro style gameplay along with child-friendly software

GBA sales were cut short by DS which had a much stronger focus on the same audience that GBA aimed at. If DS didn't release in 2004 and gave GBA 1-2 more years in the spotlight than it would very, very likely have crossed the 100 million mark. Instead of splitting development between two seperate handhelds, Nintendo would have been able to focus all that energy on GBA giving it a much stronger software library in 2005-2006.

Around the Network

I don't see how sales can increase next gen. Smartphones are taking a lot of dedicated handheld marketshare and that won't stop anytime soon. Look at how low 8th gran handhelds are selling compared to their 7th gen handheld counterparts. The next Nintendo console on the other hand will be underpowered by an entire generation behind and have to deal with the extreme brand loyalty that Sony and Microsoft gain every month with their services. These would make it hard for them to expand beyond their core userbase

Well, it depends on how Nintendo wants to do it... Like, if they once again, launch with a gimmick like how 3d was + over price it during launch + have it under-powered due to the gimmick, then I can see it be a decline but if they do it well, I can see an increase in sales cause most likely, Sony isn't going to make a successor to their handheld after the vita's low sales imo. So the Japanese third party might come to Nintendo's next handheld platform if Nintendo plays their cards right

And same goes for Nintendo's next home console. If they play their cards right, it will be an increase but if they focus on a gimmick that doesn't justify purchasing the console in the eyes of most consumers, then it will either decline or stay about the same as the wiiU

And if its a fusion nonsense, then I say it will sell less than both 3ds + wiiU combined

In agree with you that Sony are done after the vita but why don't you think ninty will be done with a home console? If the next Wii fails badly I see them going mobile only.  I'm very pessimistic for the next Wii as it comes out when the ps4 and x1 will be hitting their stride. Ps4 will have a big lead which I think means x1 will be below 250$ come next Wii release and ps4 will be 300$ max. I just can't seesaw they can make a home console relevant.

First.. You know nothing about Next gen.. VR. Stream..Steam.. Apple.. Google.. Samsung.. Next gen can look totally different..

Only thing we know for sure.. Is that Nintendo will make high rated games.. with very loved and knowed ip's.. :)

Latest after Next Nintendo (6-8 years from now) Even mighty Nintendo will have to (want to) go "not dedicated".. Mayby they still make a dedicated (most likely VR) console.. But with a potentiel 1-2 billion users on smart tv's .. and some of the higest rated games.. especally for the "casuals" they can't say no to that much money.. (nintendo's games will be count by the 100 million) and they can still make controllers and other "gamming related"

If Nintendo decides to make a new gen handheld it need to have phone capabilities (and still be somehow unik.. projektor comes to mind) But again.. why not go for the +2 billion smart phone marked..mayby they do both..

Point is.. :)  Don't think distribution.. possibilitys.. the way things are now.. or even consoles/ways of playing will be the same..

Who ever said I know what will happen next gen? I'm predicting just like everyone else in here. And they will make highly rated games but the franchises are fatigued and beyond nintendo fanatics probably won't change the decline.
