actually, it is more like $200 in 2 years. $100 price cut (to $299) probably around fall-winter 08, and then down to $199 fall-winter 09. Unless they start licensing the technology to those who are willing to take smaller profits, the price will stay high.
I'll rather get PS3 if I was in the market for BR player.
BTW, how good is the BR player in PS3. Would this $200 standalone be equivalent or better than PS3?

Dunno, just that having a built-in Blu-ray player won't be an advantage for the PS3 over its competitors anymore when $200 players will be available.

Actually, it's great. Most reviews have the ps3 rated higher than the stand alones.

Every review I've read for the PS3's BD player gave it high marks for video quaility and thy also like the fact that unlike current BD players, it is easily upgradable to future BD standards because of its large HDD and internet connection. Trust me, if you are going to get a BD player in the forseeable future, get a PS3.

If you have PS3 - what is the install time for a movie?
My bro has a standalone player and it takes too long play the movie. It took a long time for the machine to even turn on.
