Forums - Nintendo - Wii U could get sales steroids in Japan from....

Youkai Watch U would help Wii U?

Youkai Watch. I mean, just look at the sales in Japan alone! Even though it wouldn't do as much as on 3DS, software sales would look impressive for the Wii U, and even a 20-30k boost on Wii U for that week would be awesome! I think it would probably give it some legs in Japan, like maybe keeping a 20k baseline, or even cooler, 30k. I just think this would greatly help the Wii U, at least in Japan.

That's... a very good idea!

Yea! If Yokai Watch, MH and Pokemon get made exclusively for the wiiU, it will boost sales like cray cray! But I doubt it will happen though cause, unless Nintendo pays the third party a hefty amount of money, there is no way they will leave the 3ds userbase for the wiiU and if its out for both platforms, then the boost wont be that big

But, Pokemon would be a great start none the less though

It would be way more expensive to make and would maybe get 1/8 of the sales. Wont happen...

It would sell ok, but the Japanese will always prioritize the handheld version.

/thread.

Unless Nintendo pays for it, it won't happen, Level 5 has no bussiness putting that on WiiU when is doing so well in 3DS.

I mean about 6 million copies of the different Yokai Watch games were sold in 2014.

Depends when it arrives and what surrounds. If it arrived in 2015 next to Zelda and Pokken and 2016 was looking like a great year, then sure. But honestly no.

I highly doubt its in the works and its a bit too late for the Wii U now. Japanese devs have picked the PS4 and that isn't gonna change unless by miracle the Wii U's sales in january continue to ride strong of SSB release (30k)

If they were gonna fund such a title they'd be better off targeting Wii U's successor in 2017

But it wouldn't really make sense when they could just produce a console Pokemon game themselves.

I thought Japanese developers are about maximizing sales.
