Fact. PS4 hasn't beaten the Xbox One in the US since October.

You're whole point doesn't make sense. What's worse, saying people are just: "magically expect things to shift to what they were before" means you obviously haven't been keeping up. On every major online retailer, the PS4 is ahead. On Amazon, the best indicator, thus far, this gen, the PS4 has been ahead most of the month of January.

How can it be something that people just thought up?

NPD has the last word here. Not best sellers lists or what's trending. I don't care how acurate they are. Until the sales data comes down the line from NPD, this is all just conjecture. That's goes for me too. I made a bunch of claims within this thread. The difference is though, that I'm freely and openly stating that it's my opinion. Amazon is not NPD. Best Buy, is again, not NPD.

So until NPD actually reports their January numbers, I am not going to walk around, shouting my estimates into the muted sky and labeling them as facts. The same goes for the entire US this year and generation. I think Xbox One is winning the US this year overall and this generation. I think it'll get it's ass handed to it world wide. But none of that is going to be proven or disproven until NPD's January 2016 report and then until the end of this generation's report comes down the line as well.

I never said I knew PS4 lost January. I never said Xbone won January. I said that it's going to win the US in 2015. I said it's going to win the US this generation. That's my OPINION. I never I knew for a fact that anything was winning January. You, on the other hand, are claiming you do.

No one knows who won until NPD says so. Claiming otherwise is just... yeah.

lol, dude you should calm down, and infact start accepting the PS4 will win January, cause you know it's gonna happen. Denying it this hard might give you a stroke when NPD results come out.

I don't care who won lol. The PS4 could win every month, and that's fine with me. But this is about prediction, estimates, gut feelings and conjecture. And in that case, if someone's asking me who wins the US this year and gen, I'm going with Xbox One until NPD numbers consistantly show me otherwise. When they do, fine. I really don't care who wins though. As long as all three have a healthy bottom line for the sake of the industry.

You see, this is where I differ slightly. I cannot say with 100% certainty that the PS4 has won January. What I can say is that Amazon has a 100% record in predicting the outcome of NPD. What I'm trying to say is, it would be beyond optomism to bet against it not being right yet again. Any level headed person would have to draw the same conclusion for better of for worse: The PS4 is winning January.

Fact. NPD never shoved me. If it did, I'd have sued and would be sitting in a hot tub right now, overlooking some beach, filled with delicious bikini models, playing volleyball in the nude.

You see, now you're talking in terms of Months were as before you simply said since October. And you've also added 'consistantly' into your argument to give you some leeway.

I didn't realize I was being psychoanalyzed.

Anyway, I think you're having problems with the way I worded it. NPD has not shown the PS4 winning since October, correct? So when I said "Fact, PS4 hasn't won the US since October"... that is a fact. Should NPD report that it won January, then it is no longer such. And when that happens, I sure as hell won't say it again.

What are the NPD numbers for January?

Or are you now changing the goalposts:

Amazon best sellers already proved, with 100% acuracy, that it's safe to say who won NPD by just looking at amazon monthly rank.

Since 8th gen started,Amazon always predicted who would win NPD.

November and December Xbox one was on top at amazon's best sellers and it won both NPDs. Same thing for PS4 on the rest of last year.

looking at your profile it's seems that it's your first month here,so i assume you didn't know that.

Nobody is guessing here cause it's already established how good Amazon best sellers is.

Ya'll are collectively giving Mr Turkey too much airtime his fundamentally flawed thinking. People should learn by now that there is no arguing people around to a more logical way of thinking when it goes against their personal desires.

You don't know my personal desires, or lack thereof anymore than you know actual, US sales figures and if the Xbox One is winning or not.

My mistake, you clearly fervently desire PS4 to be on top in the USA.

Actually we do know actual US sales figures. Amazon PS4>Xb one for that week and all month. This is an absolutely known US sales fact. This literally means more PS4s have been sold through Amazon than Xb ones. It is not possible to deny this is hard fact. It is also hard fact that every week of Nov and Dec Amazon showed Xb one ahead of PS4. Conclusion: it is reasonable and logical to assume that where Amazon goes over a long enough period of time (a week for instance) the US market also goes.

Also, the majority of other retailers who publish best seller lists on their website also showed PS4>Xb one for that week. This is also an absolutely known US sales fact. console market share by retailer is also a fairly accessible piece of infomration if you know where to look (I don't know where to look precisely, but I have seen researched retailer market share information posted for previous years, so the info is out there). We don't know esact numbers.

Demanding exact numbers is just obfuscation. The contention is whether or not Xb one won the week over PS4. The contention is not that Xb one sold X or Y and PS4 sold Z. All the facts and evidence that is objectively known points to PS4 winning the 10 Jan week in the USA apart from VGC. What is logically more likely, all facts and evidence aside from VGC is wrong, or VGC is wrong?  The probabilities point to VGC being wrong. But if you want to go with the less probable thing that's fine, but don't go claiming all the facts and evidence support your contention.

NPD has also shown that the PS4 outsold the X1 for the year of 2014. That is also fact. PS4 outsold the X1 from January to end of October more than the X1 outsold the PS4 from November to end of December. Who knows? This year will demonstrate again that winning all the non-holiday months is more beneficial. There are many angles to interpret NPD's data, but you have adamantly adhered to one while refusing to listen to the points for others.

But I digress. Amazon, so far, has predicted 100% accuracy which console wins the month. This is a much higher percentage than VGC (you did look at the NPD archives under Boutros's OP, did you? If not, I suggest you look at his NPD threads). Latest monthly charts show that PS4 is #9 while the X1 is #19. It has also been shown in other major retailers such as Best Buy, Gamestop, and Walmart that the PS4 is selling more.

The issue here isn't your position, but rather holding a position without presenting evidence. Regurgitating facts is not presenting evidence. You need to make several observations such as analyzing VGC's inaccuracies and looking at the best selling charts and synthesize a strong hypothesis based on what you have observed.
