The retailer heavily advertising it... Heavily.

The advertising has already started. GameStop has it marketed everywhere that the Kinectless Xbox One is $349 (I'm talking in-store, in addition to, online). I'm not saying there won't be any effect, but it will not be a substantial one. Certainly nothing like what we saw during the holiday! |
M$ will get it into the weekly ads of Walmart/BBY/Target. Not in any of them this week. It usually takes 3-4 weeks lead time on those places to get into their advertising. It seems that M$ thought they would see how putting the price back up would pan out. It obviously didn't go well. So, now they will have a waiting period before the can get the "special promotional price" thing going in the weekly print ads. Of course, online and in store(did not see anything at walmart or Best Buy yesterday) could be faster...
It could be said the M$ blew the wad during xmas season and the coupon shoppers are all spent out. But, the coupon shoppers will start getting their tax money in about 3 weeks. That creates a whole buying period for 6 weeks again, if the right products have the advertising.
It is near the end of the end....
So no TLOU pic at Gamestop too? You really have to ask yourself why they're not so interested in selling PS4s are they are XB1. It makes you wonder if they're deliberately trying to create demand for the XB1.
Hasn't the XB1 started rising and the PS4 started falling since they did this? Unless they weren't supposed be adding TLOU to these bundles and Sony have told them to stop until they have the bundle with TLOU pic on the box?

Pretty much what I have seen too. With the picture available the PS4 was going up the charts in amazon until it reached number 5 and stayed there. Since TLOU picture got drop out of the picture, it started going down.
Well perhaps PS4 stocks are running a little tight, and Xb one stocks are in good supply. If you are a retailer you will try to shift the stock that is in greater supply and you will prepare your promotional material accordingly.
I see PS4 and Xb one are within 3 places of each other right now on the hourly chart. That's about as close as it's been all month, I think.

I just noticed the reason Amazon doesn't display the TLOUR image. The free digital copy of TLOUR is "Offer valid only when shipped and sold by Amazon.com"
Given they sometimes have a 3rd party displaying as the home page offer (cheapest offer?) it would be false advertising to show the TLOUR image.
That explains Amazon's lack of TLOUR promotional image. Not sure why other retailer who don't sell 3rd party stock wouldn't promote the TLOUR deal.

I actually agree with binary's first post in that the Xbone stock is probably quite high; MS has a habit of shipping tons of units and a lot of these retailers are probably looking to get rid of excess stock before the spring doldrums really set in.
