Sony is still offering 1 game(of choice), together with being slightly more powerful. It ends up being a better deal than XBO with AC (which not everyone likes and is kinda broken) at the same price.

Still, taking in account how XBO was doing before the price cut, top 40 or so. And after a 2 months long price cut, it's doing better than before.. no matter how I look at it, the price cut worked wonders.

So, in the US, at the moment, what is the sold through gap between PS4 and XBO?

About 750k. If you want it in chart form, here you go:

MONTHLY

CUMULATIVE

Ooh wow I thought the X1 was much closer.

PS4 at #19 and Xbox One at #33 for this week. Seems things are going back to normal.

That shows how people see the value of the two brands (PS4 and XBO).
I remember saying in November that if would be like this, that shows people were simply buying the price, not the product, and that's it.
People want the PS4, and will only get the XBO if there is a price advantage (decent one).
It was the time to XBO to show if momentum were carried over the value, but apparently it was not.
It's faded to lose even in the USA, as PS4 did NOTHING to counter it.

I'm sure you guys are all enjoying your XBOs, don't get me wrong.

I've been with you for months on this, especially when it came to the relative console brand value during the holidays. Someone kept pushing the agenda that people see the X1 as a "discount only" brand, when, in actuality, people see it as have less value than the PS4. I may even buy an X1, if the price drops enough, but that's because I know the PS4 is an objectively more powerful (hence, more valuable to me) console and brand.

When you are number 1 you don't drop the price. Sony keeps their cards...

Well, the PS2 was #1 the U.S. every month from 2001-2005 except for Nov. & Dec. 2004 due to a PS2 Slim shortage, yet it received three price cuts in that span. The first was in May 2002, which busted it down from $300 to $200. Except for the Wii, every major console released in the past 20 years has received a price cut before its second anniversary. I do expect the PS4 to receive a price cut some time this year, and when it does it's going to get a huge boost, price cuts being the single biggest and most consistent booster of sales there is.

Thanks!

I think what WebMaster meant was that there's no rush for Sony to drop the price since its already outselling the competition at full MSRP.

I'm sure there will be a price cut this holiday but it won't be because of XB1 or Wii U, it will be because Sony is confident the drop in hardware profits will be made up from increased software sales, PS Plus subs and increased marketshare.
