How can I use smileys and how can I get badges? ^^

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
Praying on your ioi shrine is very important as vivster has stated. But apart from that you might want to check the requirements needed for a badge by checking the badges section in your profile and clicking on all badges. You also need to manually insert smileys such as this : - ) 
. I think that this is the only smiley that works though.

We tend to get a thread like this every month.
ioi updates the badges; they'll come don't worry. Smileys are as you'd expect. You just need to include the "-" so :) becomes say.
