IMO well deserved, I think this game will have legs. A slimline PS3 at 299$ could do wonders for attracting more platformer fans, the PS3 needs more games in this gerne I hope Jak & Daxter for the PS3 will be Naughty Dog's next game. This could help Ratchet as well.
The link doesn't give an exact number. We already knew the game shpped 1m units worldwide just by looking at VGchartz' numbers. MikeB, I hope you don't expect ioi to adjust his numbers because of this. Your source does not offer enough data.

Just passing on the message. The interview doesn't specify, so I won't speculate.
I actually suspected that vgchartz can overtrack Ratchet heavily. It's known fact that it sold very little in Japan and started slowly in USA. We also know that it was overtracked by vgchartz at begining in USA, numbers have been adjusted down later but Europen numbers still could have been wrong (Ratchet performance was very week in European GFK/ChartTrack charts, uncomparable to Uncharted for example).
So imo this article shows that million units sold is on the way just as vgchartz numbers shows.
We have it at 0.87, this interview was at dice, a few weeks ago, where it was closer to 0.825/0.85, so I suspect as small undertracking, but nothing too major
