Because Destiny is not GotY. It has a small minority of wins in a mass of other games that are getting far more recognition.

It's an also ran, and not even a particularly noteworthy one

Even big sites says it is GOTY content... Giant Bomb put it at #10... Eurogamer at #2.

So the title is accurate... and I give evidences.

lol you're seriously telling me the most hyped game of the year should be applauded for a tenth place nod from somewhere? You can't be for real xD

The 8 games I listed before have like 214 GotY WINS between them. Destiny has 7. It's not impressive

Another GOTY award to Destiny.

Digital Trends

"Destiny isn’t the best game of 2014. But it delivered some of my most impactful gaming moments, of this year or any other. Memories of good times that I’ll carry around for years to come. Not because of the game, but not in spite of it either. It’s all about the shared moments — and that’s where Destiny really wins."

That guy doesn't have the credentials to choose GOTY for a whole site. The whole article is filled with "I" "Me" "My". And considering he hasn't played any of the real GOTY contenders his opinion is invalid.

I mean come on, even you know there are plenty better games than Destiny this year.

?

I give my personal GOTY vote to Destiny... it is the best game I played in years... not only this year.

My second choice is Ground Zeroes (this game deserves a lot of praise too... best MGS I ever played).

I am still playing Destiny, and do not understand the hate.

Bungie did a wonderful job making the competitive multiplayer and campaign/co-op missions feel like the same game. You need to do both to progress your character, and it works and feels natural.

So what lol?

I'm sure a few other games got many more awards....

If your intrested in finding all GOTY's that sites gave to a game, make the thread yourself. I'm not intrested.

And this is why I want another gaming crash. People will support corrupt companies. If this were any other industruy, companies like Activision would be bankrupt.

I agree with you but I don't think it could happen since the gaming industry has grown soo much since 1983. We need something else, developers like Bungie needs to have more artistic freedom from companies like Activision, then I think we will see less of these games like Destiny.

What do you think should happen?

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

Slow down, apart from abusive dlc and half finished game (wich is quite rare actually) the industry is quite fine. It delivers what we ask, mostly. Now crappy games sell a lot, like crappy movies/musics tend to sell a lot in other industries.

Industry is fine, can't compare it to the incredible mess it was before 90.

Actually, the problem is players have to much game than they can play in their library thanks to price dropping heavily on constant basis (And i'm not only speaking about steam, ps store and xbox live do that a lot too). You can't say it's trash, players have TOO MUCH GAMES to play. Seems like a golden age to me.
