Slow down, apart from abusive dlc and half finished game (wich is quite rare actually) the industry is quite fine. It delivers what we ask, mostly. Now crappy games sell a lot, like crappy movies/musics tend to sell a lot in other industries.
Industry is fine, can't compare it to the incredible mess it was before 90.
Actually, the problem is players have to much game than they can play in their library thanks to price dropping heavily on constant basis (And i'm not only speaking about steam, ps store and xbox live do that a lot too). You can't say it's trash, players have TOO MUCH GAMES to play. Seems like a golden age to me.
