Forums - Microsoft - New build of Windows 10 shows Cortana, unified app store, ability to buy Xbox One games on PC

Windows has no taste, I'm moving to Apple. Either that or I'll install Ubuntu. I just hate Windows now, especially with 8. They lost me after 7 and wait...WAS THERE EVEN AN 9!?

From what I've heard, w10 is best windows to date, and the article was coming from someone who hated w8. It looks pretty great to me, and I'm w7 all the way.

Stick with windows dude, that's my advice, and keep up with technology. Apple will go down before MS does.

On topic: I wonder if they're trying to compete with steam here. It looks like they're making all the same moves. Tbh, I feel like Steam is the biggest threat to ms right now, not sony. Not trying to start a riot in the comments, everyone, just noticing something. Like, why have a store like steam that has all the same games aside from a select few ms first party games?

What shits me with Windows 10 is that they will drop support for Windows 7 as soon as this comes out.

They wouldn't do that. What happens if W10 gets the same hate as 8. They have to wait and see.

I hope that with Windows 10, Microsoft will finally allow developing/running own apps.

I seem to be one of the three people on this planet who actually kind of likes Windows 8. I probably wouldn't use it myself, but I bought my parents a 10" Windows 8 tablet PC for christmas and it's a really nice device, especially considering that it cost me just about 170 Euros. Windows 8 may be crap for traditional desktop PCs, but I think it works well for tablets and other touchsreen devices.

The only downside is that ridiculous app sideloading policy, which makes it almost impossible to develop and run your own apps. One can easily develop and run traditional native/desktop software, but not apps. How does Microsoft expect to get more developers interested in developing windows apps when at the same time they make it so extremely difficult and complicated?

Developing apps for Windows currently seems to be a total nightmare, just the opposite of Android, where developing apps for is a breeze and very comfortable.

Most notably, it looks like the original Control Panel might be going away, replaced by the new Metro-style PC Settings app

WHY??? Is there someone walking around the office in MS with the only job of shouting, "We must change shit", all the time?

Can I play gamecube games on PC as well? Does the computer tower have a disc reader able to do that with the release of windows 10? Oh how I wish to gaze upon the glorious 480i again!
