Forums - Gaming - AMD will "introduce" a new chiposet for a new "Console" in 2016

Just saw it on neogaf.

The design wins are interesting because the funding, the R&D dollars for customizing the parts for the products to our customers is precisely pre-funded by the customer and like I said the workload is started and we are spending the money and the resources and the work to go ahead and design the parts to be introduced sometime in 2016.

We didn’t say at which space it is in. I’m not going to give too much detail. I’ll say that one is x86 and one is ARM, and atleast one will be on gaming, right. But that’s about as much as you going to get out me today, because the customers from the standpoint to be fair to them. It is their product. They launch it. They announce it and then just like the game console or the parts you find out that its AMD’s APU that’s been used in those products.

Two possibilities. Nintendo handheld or new console by Alibaba owners. I hope its Nintendo home console.

Yeah, I have a feeling that is probably Nintendo related! I guess we have to wait in order to find out.

Amazon console, I'm sure of it.

It seem from pricing stand of point and power balance, going with AMD is the right choice for future console.
I am not saying Intel is bad or overprice, but GPGPU is the future, even the latest NVIDIA has an ARM chips inside their gpu.

So if both PS4 and Xbox one is accepted in the market then they will continue their relationship with SONY, Microsoft or even Nintendo.

I doubt its nintendo related. Even if AMD had a new console chipset ready by 2016 for nintendo, that would mean that their new console is released in 2017 at the soonest, unless they want to sit on a 2016 chip for years. A new nintendo console in 2017 is just too early and will not show enough of a graphical leap over the PS4/XB1 to be taken seriously. It will be a wiiU all over again.

Nintendo can't be that stupid.

Its more likely to be a proper amazon console if anything at all.

I wish that was the case .-.
