The Zelda fans have spoken and.... everybody has different opinions!!! That's what happens when you have a great IP and amazing games.

So we're judging old games by today's standards now?

If we're going by relative quality to time periods, then the DS Celdas and 4 Swords games are the lowest, followed by the NES games, Twilight Princess, Skyward, the GBA ones, Minish, and Celda Windwaker is the best of the bad Zeldas.

Best for their time:
1. Ocarina
2. Link to the Past
3. Majora's Mask
4. Awakening
5. Between Worlds

As it should. ALBW has much more interesting dungeon designs, that is only partially due to increased hardware (I don't think the wall painting mechanic would've worked on SNES). 

I personally wouldn't do that. I do not compare old with today standards on anything. No one would think to have that on the SNES. To do that would require owning the Mario Paint mouse.

I played the remade version of OoT (never played the original) and didn't think it was as good as ALBW. Nor would a remake of ALTTP have been as good as ALBW.

This just shows how consistently good Zelda games are

Or how overrated they are. 

No offence, but Skyward Sword doesn't deserve 93% on metacritic. 

Samus must really hate me. I find Ocarina of Time the best Zelda game, Mario 64 is the best Mario game and A Link to the Past is better than A Link Between Worlds. Also, screw GameRankings if Link's Awakening is only 12th and below the mediocrity that is Minish Cap.

OoT > LA > TP > MM > ALttP > SS > ALBW > LoZ > TWW > ST > OoA > OoS > AoL > PH > TMC > FS

I'd say OoT through ALttP are the top games, the classics. Then SS through TWW are the second tier, excellent games but with flaws. ST through AoL are worthy Zelda games, but obviously a step down. PH through FS fail as Zelda games.

Spirit Tracks is low and the 3D ones are high, so I like this list. :P
