i'm beginning to wonder if this wasn't done by the nsa to turn public perception against north korea even more and pave the way to a conflict

So by theatres refusing to screen the movie, basically all the money Sony put into funding this movie has like no chance of being reimbursed?

Looks like someones gonna have a bad quarterly statement.......

Its very bad news. The movie cost $80m to make and market, and now they have the added costs of changing their computer network and cleaning up the mess. So in total they could lose close to $200m according to bloomberg.

The only tarnish i saw was that they pulled the film out. They think they did a good thing, but it was the dumbest thing they could have ever done. Do they think its gonna stop with this?

Financially it was a good thing to do and that is what matters.

A limited release across US is nothing against a later release WW as "The Movie that the North Koreans hate!". This could make Sony not only more money with the movie than they had hoped but could also generate a positive buzz when they finally release it to spite a bad regime.

yup, make quite a bit of Money..lol, since the movie will be free

Consumer perception of the media giant the lowest in six years.

As of Friday, December 19, Sony's score was 3, a six-year low. YouGov points out that this could fall further, as The Interview's cancellation has drawn much displeasure from some, while United States president Barack Obama has even said Sony "made a mistake" in scuttling the movie's release.

Well the people would be showing their ignorance then, since it was the movie theatre operators who forced Sony's hand by cancelling it in droves, so SOny had very few theatres left to show it. Once you get down to only a handful of theatres there is no point in releasing it. They should still make it available digitally.

I also hear Anonymous plans to "launch" it digitally on Christmas, for free of course.

Well if they said they didn't do it, it must be so.

If it was only the "interview" movie situation, you would be right, but the leaks were more than that:
