Forums - Nintendo - Has anyone tried playing Smash with a Pro controller?

Since Amazon / UK in general failed to deliver my gamecube adapter on time, we have been playing it on Gamepad and Pro Controller (as we play most Wii U games). It was very strange at first (especially as I used Gamecube controller on someone else's game who got the adapter on time), mainly with the C-stick equivalent being above the A and B buttons rather than below, and the Z and R equivalents being effectively the other way around. Also, although I'm not sure the same applies as much to the Pro controller, on the Gamepad you really notice that it was stil designed with the Gamecube controller in mind since the buttons to exit match (L + R + A + (+)/Start) really don't seem meant to be pressed together on the gamepad.

I will revert to Gamecube Controllers when I can since that's what I played Melee and Brawl on, but the Pro controller and even Gamepad seem pretty good for it, just take some extra getting used to.

I haven't played Smash yet, but I am part of the #ProControllerMasterRace

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I didn't like it.  Couldn't get used to it. I'm actually not playing that game until Nintendo properly stock the gamecube controller adapter.  I went the first day but they were already all sold out.

It feels so fucking weird at first, but once you get used to it it's feels as good or better than the wavebird.

Probably because of the layout which is pretty much just the dualshock layout but inverted. lol

@garret. Well... I just say that in every Pro Controller related thread since it's my favorite controller of all time. Sure, you can join!

My Wavebird may still very well be the crown jewel of all of my gaming stuff. Racing wheel included.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I played with it a few rounds. It's fairly comfortable. I like the shoulder buttons a little better, since they're not springy like the cube's. On the other hand, I like the cube controller's deformed C-stick better.

Honestly, they're probably about even. Difference is probably how used to using the Gamecube controller people are. Unless you're a super competitve player I doubt it will be too different.
