Forums - Nintendo - Metroid Fans: How Would You Feel About A Metroid U+3DS (3D+2D Platformer) Double Holiday Release in 2016? (Think Prime+Fusion)

You want another Metroid Prime-Fusion situation?

I would LOVE this. It would give the 3DS a jewel in its 2015 crown and help solidify the Wii U's 2016 lineup as not faltering from 2015. A brilliant, HD Metroid Prime-style game on the Wii U could be on the scale of Zelda. I'm not kidding. I think it could be that important to its library.

Have you ever played a Metroid game? (I read your thread about being new to Nintendo)

I don't think Metroid Prime needs to be open world on the scale of Zelda though. It's all about shooting them doors. :p

Metroid Prime is one of my favorite games ever made, I bought a GameCube because of it. If Nintendo released nothing other than two Metroid titles of the same caliber I would most certainly buy both of their systems. That being said, I don't have much confidence in Nintendo's ability to deliver one more quality Metroid let alone two.

Sounds great, except I don't want a new Prime game, I want and have wanted a 2D, HD Metroid on Wii U for a long time though. I wouldn't be MAD at a new Metroid Prime game. It's just not what I want. Just like many people clamor for a "Mario Galaxy 3", and I have zero desire to see another one of those either.

I'm still not convince Metroid can really work in 3D. There are some franchises (Castlevania, Contra, Mega Man, Sonic, very likely Kirby, etc.) that just can not work in 3D very well. I would far rather see an epic Super Metroid style game, just way bigger, with gorgeous HD hand drawn sprites and stages, running at a smooth fps rate, brilliant lighting, a moody, atmospheric soundtrack, plenty of natural exploration (IE not forced), etc.

Basically everything that Fusion (which was okay) and Other M (which was dogshit) were not.

That's the kind of Metroid I would really prefer. I can dream, right?

I've only ever played Super Metroid on the virtual console. So my extent of knowledge in regards to the franchise isn't that much, but it's definitely something I want to get into.

And I don't necessarily mean scale as in the world, more-so the fact that it has the potential to be such a grand, magnificient, enormous game in its entirety. Zelda will be huge in regards to its vast world, while I think Metroid could be groundbreaking in its scope and gameplay. Both are flagship games that really define the console, which is basically what I mean by scale, lol.

The more Metroid, the better! I'd buy both :D

I would love it, but apparently it is forbidden to have too much of one thing. There is too many 2D platformers and Metroidvania games on the system. It isn't needed.

^
SNES had.
And it was awesome.

*drools*

No doubt, but from my 40 or so posts on here, people here have convinced me certain games aren't needed or even worth it. It would be just a waste of talent considering the U is flooded with them.
