Forums - Gaming - It's time to accept it, XBO has won the US this gen

Sorry But i have to Disagree. Microsoft Barely won the month of november. I believe there was only and 200k difference with ps4 and x1 in us. The only thing id say Microsoft did right was to deny Wii U the comeback it need to get for BF With the Titles they were launching. As of Right now Sony is the Best position they could Possibly be. The Street Fighter Excusivity Will hurt mircosoft in the long run. Once they go back to 399 they will struggle again against ps4. Nintendo honestly has the most potential to make a comback within the next 6 months if they play there cards right.

The 360 has done it, and im sure the one can do it again.

Congrats to microsoft for the winning anyway.....

Well you wrote my comment better than I could have lol So I'll tip my cap. "IF" the price goes back up... MS has absolutely zero chance in the US. Even if the drop sticks, it is most likely they run side by side (or slightly behind) the PS4 in the US. Once holidays are over, people will lose the blinders and forced to digest reality. Until then, let's just enjoy the show!! It's good to see all of the next gen consoles do well... I just wish the Wii U would pick up a little!! (or a lot =/)

**Oh and people seem to forget PlayStation brand DOMINATED the US for many MANY years. The 360 had a year head start, price advantage, and usually better multi plats. THAT is why it won the US last gen. It is why the PS4 will win the US this gen. It had a few weeks head start, price advantage at launch, better multi plats, and believe it or not MS doesn't have the best (or even good at all) reputation here in the states. People seem to be delusional and completely misinterpreting the performance of the 360 in relation to the feelings in the US regarding MS.

Just now I have realized something. From this point forward Microsoft will always have a price advantage over PS4. They can afford it. Sony wants to make money off PS4 so they have to be careful with price drops. Microsoft knows they can't win worldwide, so they'll concentrate everything on the US. I'm not even talking about moneyhatting exclusives since those don't mean anything. I'm talking about consistent price drops and never letting PS4 achieve price parity. That alone will win them the US this generation. Microsoft will achieve it.

I wrote out a math a while ago showing that even if xb1 remains at its current price, it will get outsold during the year.
This had to do with the amount of parents who were buying an xb1 for their children, vs ps4 purchases which were mainly made by adults.
The thing is, kids only get consoles on their birthday or christmas. Adults can buy consoles at any time.

That was basically the jist of it.

The holidays in the US will always be tighter due to the XBOX target audience being younger than the PS4s. The XBOX has always had a chokehold over the 10-18 year old male fanbase. Many of them are to young to have jobs so they have to wait for CMAS to upgrade. (note, I am not saying the XB1 is "childish" it is just the audience most attracted to MS's branding and marketing strategies, and to be fair its a smart audience to focus on in the US)

Even back in gen 6 when the PS2 decimated the XBOX, the XBOX was still strong with the audience I mentioned. Back then I was in that age group and all my friends had an XBOX(I guess they thought it was cool to own a box, with a giant X on it) all the while the PS2 went on to what a 75-80% marketshare. Even now this holds true, most of the people my age I know (late 20s) have a PS4, but many of my younger cousins (and their friends) who are in the age group want an XBOX.

All that considered I cant see how you can take one good month for the XBOX compared the pattern that has emmerged ovet the past year. I want to say out of 12 NDP MS has won 2. Last month and DEC 2013, which again adds validitity to my bigger holiday boost hythothesis stated above.

Even worse, taking one good month (and baseing your entire prediction on it) and that month being a pricedrop month is pretty irresponsible. On top of that the biggest (or 2nd biggest if you think TF was bigger) exclusive of the year came out for the XB1 in HALO:MCC. And to top the cake the XBOX added to the pricedrop bundles with AAA games at no extra cost.

XB1 might win Decemeber, but some of the advantages it had in Novemeber will have burnt off demand, the gap will be tighter, and much tighter % wise.

I would urge to revisit your theory the 2nd Thursday in February. If the XB1 wins Nov, Dec and then even Jan it will be time to talk about how Sony can regain momentum.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

xbox took US last gen,why is everyone going crazy like it is a miracle,it will be more level this gen from what i can see, miles better for playstation in the US gen 7 to gen 8

Once the price is back to standard and fire sales will finish, PS4 will easy outsells X1 in all 2015 untill Nov, then we will see.

Hmm, you lose one week that's heavily leaned towards Microsoft for sales anyway and all of sudden you lose the whole gen in the region...makes sense?

I'm not going to come to any conclusion until the end of holiday 2015. (unless the Xbox absolutely wrecks the first 6 months of 2015 somehow.)

Then we shall see if the Xbox One has managed to become VICTORIOUS (globally in the us).
