Forums - Gaming - Zelda on the Wii U looks a lot similar to Shadow of the Colossus

my opinion is that zelda ocarina of time was the first 3D action adventure game with a horse. so this is just another topic from another sony fanboy.

This.

Zelda 3D witha horse has been around for 20 years. Yes, it was the 1st of its kind.

Get your facts straight.

I actually think Zelda U is supposed to be a 3D version of the first Zelda game!

Pretty much this. It would seem that Zelda is returning to its roots as an open world free-roaming game. At least, that's what I'm hoping for. I still think that the original LoZ is the best. I think.... Maybe...

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

SoTC was empty while Zelda has animal life as well as enemies and this is just what they showed us. the horse thing was already used in OoT and open world was done in the first Zelda. SoTC is a great game so I wouldn't mind Zelda U copying ideas from it tbh but unless there are giant bosses then Nintendo isn't really coping it at all

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Hopefully the game will be worth playing, otherwise I'll get pissed like when I found that I couldn't throw Wander and his horse off a cliff.

Erm, just looks like an open world Zelda to me. We could say it looks like this or it looks like that, because there are similar games to Zelda believe it or not. That doesn't mean this doesn't look like a Zelda game, ofcourse.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

You do know OP of the existence of Ocarina of Time, and that Link, wait for it, rides a horse in that game around field as well? Amazing I know. Also, get this OP, Ocarina of Time came out 8 years before SoTC as well.

People back then said SoTC was copying Zelda. Being a Zelda game with just boss fights and no dungeons. Funny world.

" especially riding trough empty environment"

Weird people still saying this. Do people just ignore the horses, forget the people and deer and goats in the first trailer, and not think that the TGA trailer was cut in a way to avoid things they didn't want to show?

As for Uncharted copying Tomb Raider. That is partly true though. Uncharted, Tomb raider, and Pitfall Harry games are cut from the same Indiana Jones adventure cloth. It's just that Tomb raider games were more platformy, and since it has been dumbed down, it now more resembles Uncharted, which was pretty much a dumbed down Tomb raider focusing on action and set pieces. This is reductionist as well, but still true.

Nothing wrong with taking inspiration from something OP, it's just how you choose to differentiate yourself from your inspiration is what matters.

Shadow of the Colossus did have the whole "the horse avoids shit" mechanic, but the last thing I think of when I see Zelda U's screens are SotC...

Now if only Team Ico wasn't a clusterfuck, maybe we'd get SotC2 someday...

I thought the same thing when I saw the footage but kept it to myself. It's good that it borrows inspiration from other games and it should never be a negative, no matter what platform people prefer.

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Its a troll, but i do love shadow of collosus. And OoT came out about 7 years before SoC... so as a Zelda fan i never thinking about CoS copying OoT.
