Back in May of last year Nintendo and Sega announced a partnership where three Sonic games would be developed and released exclusively for Nintendo consoles.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric quietly ends what could have been the jump start that Sonic needed.

What is your personal verdict on the partnership?

Does the game further tarnish the Sonic brand and what does it mean for future releases on other consoles (who have avid Sonic fans as well)?

I remember feeling somewhat jealous when this was first announced.

Now?  Not so much.

Hmmm... in a way it was important as it did bring more exclusives to the console. But, Sonic lost world was the only worthwhile one. I dont think Nintendo is very pleased with their performance. SEGA is quite literally a stinking pile.

It shows Sega does not have the capability to make a pure good Sonic Game they are too busy still experimenting what will and not work when they should have done that in the ps1 and N64 days.

Verdict on the Sega/Nintendo Alliance for the Sonic franchise:

IT SUCKED BALLS.

Yeah pretty bad really. Maybe.nintendo.should off secured.other sega ip like shemue virtua tennis or fighter crazy taxi etc if sega still own those

Sega should go to Square Enix and ask how to port the old Sonic games to the PS4 while also making a big deal out of it.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Sega dropped the ball, but I feel like this sort of thing would work better if they just took some extra time on their games. So I don't want to call the whole alliance a failure, as it showed potential. Lost World could have been so much more with more development time and polish. Heck, even Sonic Boom wasn't bad as a concept; it was just a broken, unfinished game.

So I'm somewhere in the middle. I think they should continue to work together and Nintendo should help with development and quality control.

I feel like the partnership gave SEGA too much room to slack off on quality. Knowing they've been paid up front with Nintendo's platforms showing little growth potential kept them from maybe adding some incremental costs to ensure the best possible Sonic game was made. Basically, they hit a point where additional risk wasn't worth the reward.

It's also weird that the WiiU eShop hasn't received any Sonic games on the VC. How are Sonic fans supposed to get excited about WiiU when other platforms already have way more and better Sonic content?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
