Forums - Nintendo - Could Network Nintendo handle a hack?

if someone actually tried, nintendo would go down as easily as psn/xbl, perhaps even more so since Microsoft and Sony have had to deal with it multiple times so are more used to it, so if someone actually pointed their botnet at a nintendo server, it would go down, theres nothing special about nintendos servers and nothing magical about DDOS.

Around the Network

I don't think so... It doesn't matter though, because no one will even bother to hack Nintendo!

There is no such thing as "proper security". Security doesn't get better, the bigger the network gets. In fact, the bigger it gets and the more people are involved, the higher the chance that there will be a weak link. MS and Sony don't have bad security, they're doing what they can to protect themselves. Sadly there is no protection against massive DDOS attacks. If the attackers wanted they would have no trouble bringing Nintendo's network down.

Currently Nintendo is doing the best thing they can to protect them from attacks. Not being a target.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It would be kinda stupid of them if they didn't have a plan already in place. DDoS no one is really safe from... it's not even a hack, more or less a great way to burn through a company's bandwith to cause multitude of problems for its' end users

^Sorta to back up the one site cause i don't trust mashable that much.

Depends on what is lost.

Much like Sony, if some eShop games are stolen that is manageable, if the credit cards used in Nintendo purchases for over a month worldwide are taken, they might have problems.
