Wii U’s 8GB Basic Set is still around in the UK, and one retail source told MCV that Nintendo is looking to “clear out” stock. The site reports that in late October, Nintendo reduced the trade price of the white console by £70. This has led to noteworthy discounts at various retailers from Amazon, GAME, and more.

That explains all the Basic bundles that have been popping up, then. Begs the question: why didn't they have a cheap Smash + Basic bundle for the launch weekend?

Wouldn't be surprised they are selling these out to bring down the Wii U Deluxe a tad bit when the premium service ends. Prices for the Deluxe bundles are all over the place currently but a Deluxe Bundle including game for 279/299 seems possible.

Basic makes no sense anymore you cannot even put 2 download games in it and now Nintendo is pushing download and dlc like crazy...

Basic has to go!
