Not even remotly true, most parents will buy what their kid wants.  None wants crocodile tears you didnt buy me what i want on xmas morning.

This mother would pick up a 360 or PS3 or Wii or WiiU or any other gaming system which is cheaper than Xbone or PS4.

This thread was a mess to read through :p

Congrats MS and XBO, it's no mean feat to be a winner against the PS4, regardless of territory or length of time at top.

What I gather is that for the last 5 weeks that XBO > PS4 in UK but the gap is within a reasonable margin of error?

Either way, it's a great turnaround for XBO!

I agree with everything you say. There is no full on panic mode. most people like me are saying the PS4 is winning easily WW and nearly all of us are confident the PS4 will be winning the UK/US monthly starting from January next year up until late next year. That's how the cookie seems to be crumbling. 

And why would certain posters be in full on panic mode? Is sony winning the WW battle easily? Yes. Have they turned things around from last gen in the US and UK (the thorn in the PS3's side)? Yes. No need for panic. It's a bit weird though seeing all the threads from certain posters constantly one upping a certain console everytime it gets a narrow victory in one of 2 markets. Kinda reeks of desperation.

So the Xbox One is now beating the PS4 in the US... Last time I checked the price was the ONLY thing that changed. They did not add up some pixels or anything else to the games/Xbox One. If everything, the last 3 weeks proves the price is a major (if not the main) factor.

Of course in Europe where the PS4 dominiation is well ahead it will be hard to come back even with a lower price. But if the Xbox One was launched last year at a less expensive price than the PS4. It would be a very very different figure.

did halo not also release? they had big advertisements from october till end of november about Unity, MCC, SO, FH2 and DA: I. Without all that do you think just dropping the price alone would have done the job? Nope. It's a major factor but not the only major factor.

Yep, they will. If kid says they want a PS4 then that's what they'll get. Well... that or nothing, but not any alternative anyways

the mother will choose not to buy then because she will buy something else for Cristmass, house hold equipment, cooking utensils or another gift to buy or even she can buy anything that is not related to video games

sony has other to fight, than the console war


being profitable.
get the turnaround done.
increase the profit margin of the games and network division.
be prepared for the next big thing, we dont even know yet
be prepared for the tech industry changes.
keep the playsation momentum and brand as healty as right now.

 

only the last one is part of the "console war"

As far as december, we will see. For now the only change resulting of Xbox One success is the price cut so I still believe it is the main factor.
We can see end of december but I'm pretty sure the Xbox One will still be ahead in NA. Not in Europe tho, the PS4 is way too far ahead and there, the popularity / perception factor is just way to big to be countered by the price like in NA. (it is too late in short)


It's not all or nothing? Ok you try telling that to Kowen then because he's been shouting from the rooftops this past year telling us that price is the be all and end all! You know obviously the games MS release only on their console have nothing to do with it. Or the loyalty many have to the 360.
