If Nintendo fund it, SE can only make profit. If would be exclusive, I bet it would sell well

The profit has to be enough to jusify the years of development time, which I doubt it would.  Also I'm sure SE is aware Nintendo does not have a good track record of advertising their third party exclusives.

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance actually had amazing advertising.

That was a handheld game, they specifically said this will be a console game.  They put out Wonderful 101 to die right next to GTAV and I've never seen a Hyrule Warriors or Bayonetta 2 ad.  I wouldn't be surprised if Platinum went to MS with Scalebound and not the other way around, they know MS's advertisement machine will be behind them, just like it was for Insomniac with Sunset Overdrive.

even it sell 1 unit, Nintendo already paid. SE would not care about sales

Ofc they'd care, they want to make a reasonable profit, if they feel like they're not gonna get that on Wii U even with the development paid for then they will just make the game for PS4/X1 where they think they will make more money.  They are also familiar with the PS4/X1 consoles and not with the Wii U's.

They also aren't going to spend Final Fantasy XV kinds of money in development. I'm thinking more Crystal Bearers for Wii money, which would mean development wouldn't really cost all that much. I think you're also assuming they'd put their main developers on the project which would not be the case, XV and KHIII would still take priority for those teams while this is made by the same devs who make all those 3DS titles. It just lets some of the smaller dev teams stretch their creative legs.

Think in Bayo2 case: PLatinum don't care if the game sell 1 unit or 1million because Nintendo paid everything. Would be the same case

No its not, Platinum is a studio that relies on their games to be published because they can't do it, SE is full capable of publishing their own games and they would probably prefer that cause they get a way bigger cut from each game sold.

That just makes more incentive for them not to go to Nintendo...if the development isn't gonna cost that much then they don't need Nintendo to cover the costs...they self publish it, make way more money from each game sold and end up making more money than if Nintendo published it.  You just proved my point.

They still wanna be able to make a reasonable profit, which tbh probably won't be much on the Wii U even if the development is covered, better off making a PS4/X1 multiplat.

This isn't how businesses think. it's an opportunity cost. Would they be able to get more out of a deal where they can get more sales/profit and brand power from a different project. People ignore opportunity cost when talking about these things.

Sure their is

“Actually, right now, we’re working on a new RPG specifically for consoles and it isn’t a remake,” Matsuda told Famitsu. “We’ll start talking about it more in December and go from there.”
All depends on SQEX definition of consoles.

So, this does not indicate there is a reason to believe it wouldn't come to 3DS or Vita...

It also doesnt give us a 100% 3DS or Vita which is what the comment made though. To say their is no reason it wont be on X console is just stupid unless the company strictly stae its for that console.

Square Enix doesn't like failing systems...

we are talking about a hypothetical situation here, not real world. I'm aware SE has money to publish their games

They got Tomb Raider as an exclusive from Square Enix, didn't they?

Not a jrpg, which don't tend to sell well on Xbox.

FF XIII sold over 2 million copies on Xbox. Is 2 million not selling well?

Should also mention that is more than any JRPG has sold on Wii U and more than all but 2 (Zelda and Monster Hunter, if you even count those as JRPGs) on Wii...

Lol why would you count them as JRPGs?? 1 is an Action Adventure game with a focus on puzzles and the other is an Action RPG under the Boss Hunt sub catagory (otherwise known as the Monster Hunter sub catagory)

Also Blue Dragon sold 890k, Lost Odyssey sold 880k, Star Ocean sold 770k, 13-2 sold 710k and Vesperia sold 700k. All sold quite wll imo.
