I honestly don't think any respectable reviewer will give SSBB a perfect score. The game is by no mean perfect.

in fact, I hate the whole notion of perfect score. (Unless the score system is 5, like in XPlay, then that's fine)

you just keep living up to your nickname. :)

Eh yeah, I mean I can't see how it's any less perfect than any other game that gets a 10.  I mean it does have some partial clones... but no one bitches about that in Street Fighter with all the damn Ryu Clones and i believe less characters.

9.4

Presentation: 9 or lower
They'll complain about Subspace Emissary using new characters and that feeling impersonal. Damn you Nintendo, how dare you try and be original!

Graphics: 9.5
They can never give a Wii game a 10. No real reason, they just seem to play it that way.

Sound: 10
There are 287 full songs in this game, a large portion of which are fully orchestrated. If this isn't a 10, I'll never visit that site again.

Gameplay: 9
They don't know how to play Smash. Simple as that. They've shown how much they suck in their videos and bitched about stupid crap in their podcasts simply because they never learned how to play.

Lasting Appeal: 10
Just as sound, if this isn't a 10, that site deserves to be destroyed.
You seem... a bit agitated.  You ok?

he is pretty much spot on with how they will/should be rating the catagories, whether he is or isn't agitated

He's not agitated, everyone feels this way about IGN.

9.3 no more, no less.

Yeah, but remember yall roasting me about Darkcloud 2, and saying it sucked. I felt like you would if Brawl got a 7.8/10 from IGN.

I just know your wrong, but there is nothing I can do, because everyone takes your opinions seriously and laughs at mine, but I'm the only one who posted that knew how good the game can be.

All games have hidden greatness, some of that greatness sucks. You can't play a game like Vagrant Story one time through and rate it as if you knew how deep into the rabbit hole it goes.

It's like, when you play through VS once, you don't even know what the developers were aiming for. You just get the crap they added in for the icing of the cake.

Even though I believe Gamespot will give Brawl a lower score, and even with the Gerstmann(sp?) debocle, and even thought IGN has some decent reviewers, I STILL respect Gamespots reviews more than IGN's, because IGN has the fanboy thing going. They split their review teams up amongst consoles, and they end up with fanboy wars, even in their blogs.

Gamespot, while mildly dumb, is still the best. My only gripe with them is they have this policy, "Games with over 50 percent recycled content will score lower than their previous installment." Gerstman gave freakin' Twilight Princess a 8.8, just to prove that this policy applied to everyone. In the end, I believe it led to his downfall, but GS, in retribution, still holds tight to that policy, even moreso, because its inventor was fired for his beliefs.

The policy was invented because of Madden, when the site decided it wasn't right to keep giving the same game the same score.

We saw this same logic applied to Ratchet on the PS3, so don't fanboy out on me, Wii haters. This applies to everyone.

The worst case of this is the Phoenix Wright series, which is, as you all know, storydriven. Gamespot continues to defy every other review site, and give the new games lower and lower scores because most of the gameplay is recycled.

The thing is, the gameplay doesn't matter in Phoenix Wright. Its similar to criticizing a new book from Anne Rice, for having a bad binding or poor font. It really misses the point of what the game is trying to accomplish. Telling an epic story, and being a continous manga in a videogame.

Gamespots policy is retarded.

That said, they are still way better than IGN, I don't care if IGN gives Brawl a 10, I'm sticking by that.

I still think Gamespots Brawl review will be bullshit, regaurdless. It will be underscored because of the policy, mark my words. Melee got an 8.9 from Gamespot, look for a 8.5 or lower for Brawl.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Yeah IGN really pisses me off sometimes.

What I do find interesting is that Zelda takes second place after Smash in popularity on IGN, I think Smash will bring in a lot of people (hardcore gamers) and I think Zelda and others may see a very big increase in the launch week of Smash and beyond.

I think IGN understands what SSBB was trying to accomplish and will give a damn near perfect score. On delivery I heard they perfected it.

Ok, but if you say that gamespot gives low scores for recycled games, whats up with Halo 3 then? Scored as high as its predecessors, and the gameplay was about the same. I dont think they will be giving Brawl less than 9 (GS)

I expect a 9.5 from IGN.

So far the lowest review was a 93% and 4 others with 100% according to gamerankings, so if gamespot wants to go against the current then let them be, more people will actually hate them.
