Yeah, but remember yall roasting me about Darkcloud 2, and saying it sucked. I felt like you would if Brawl got a 7.8/10 from IGN.
I just know your wrong, but there is nothing I can do, because everyone takes your opinions seriously and laughs at mine, but I'm the only one who posted that knew how good the game can be.
All games have hidden greatness, some of that greatness sucks. You can't play a game like Vagrant Story one time through and rate it as if you knew how deep into the rabbit hole it goes.
It's like, when you play through VS once, you don't even know what the developers were aiming for. You just get the crap they added in for the icing of the cake.
Even though I believe Gamespot will give Brawl a lower score, and even with the Gerstmann(sp?) debocle, and even thought IGN has some decent reviewers, I STILL respect Gamespots reviews more than IGN's, because IGN has the fanboy thing going. They split their review teams up amongst consoles, and they end up with fanboy wars, even in their blogs.
Gamespot, while mildly dumb, is still the best. My only gripe with them is they have this policy, "Games with over 50 percent recycled content will score lower than their previous installment." Gerstman gave freakin' Twilight Princess a 8.8, just to prove that this policy applied to everyone. In the end, I believe it led to his downfall, but GS, in retribution, still holds tight to that policy, even moreso, because its inventor was fired for his beliefs.
The policy was invented because of Madden, when the site decided it wasn't right to keep giving the same game the same score.
We saw this same logic applied to Ratchet on the PS3, so don't fanboy out on me, Wii haters. This applies to everyone.
The worst case of this is the Phoenix Wright series, which is, as you all know, storydriven. Gamespot continues to defy every other review site, and give the new games lower and lower scores because most of the gameplay is recycled.
The thing is, the gameplay doesn't matter in Phoenix Wright. Its similar to criticizing a new book from Anne Rice, for having a bad binding or poor font. It really misses the point of what the game is trying to accomplish. Telling an epic story, and being a continous manga in a videogame.
Gamespots policy is retarded.
That said, they are still way better than IGN, I don't care if IGN gives Brawl a 10, I'm sticking by that.
I still think Gamespots Brawl review will be bullshit, regaurdless. It will be underscored because of the policy, mark my words. Melee got an 8.9 from Gamespot, look for a 8.5 or lower for Brawl.
