The gamepad less Wii U would shock and infuriate me, I don't want to imagine Nintendo betraying indies like Microsoft did.
Another big shock would include any of the big three going third party, or even just Retro or Naughty Dog doing so.
Ubi, EA or Activision selling all their IPs and shutting down.
Anyone purchasing Capcom, Square Enix, SEGA, Take Two, or Bethesda.
Playstation 4 or Xbox One getting a gamepad in a power-play to enable multiplatform games between themselves and the 3DS / Wii U in order to undermine library parity with their current rival.
