Forums - Gaming - Ubisoft: No review embargo on The Crew... but no early review copies either.

Well, this effectively means that reviews will be even later than with ACU. They think this will appease people? They must have hired MS's PR team from last year.

Snip:

For this very reason, The Crew will be available to media to begin their reviews when the game launches on December 2. There will be absolutely no embargo on any type of coverage once the game is available for sale. While we fully anticipate that you might see some reviews immediately at launch – largely built around the preview sessions we facilitated during the past months or the limited content of the closed and open betas – they won’t be based on optimal conditions or reflect the finished game. We sincerely hope everyone will take the time to customize their ride as they progress through all five regions, explore every corner of the map solo and with friends, dive into our competitive and cooperative mechanics, race to the end of the main campaign, choose a Faction and compete with your crew in Factions Wars, and so much more.

Seriously Ubisoft...This doesn't bode well for them.

I'm looking forward to a few games next year and two of them are The Division and RS Siege, but they keep pulling shit like this which is making me not want to get those games day one, but rather wait for reviews and user impressions.

Well I already decided not to buy it when they announced it, so whatever...

I personally never count a game out as soon as it's announced, but the footage from the PS4 beta is just horrendous. Game looks like it's from the PS2 era. I know graphics aren't everything but that game just looks exceptionally bad.

No embargos, but no review copies? Which still means an embargo, right?

If only the gaming community would come together and put the screws to Ubisoft like they did last year with MS's DRM bullshit.

As long as their shit keeps flying off shelves, the dodgy practices will continue.

Pretty much. Only way you can get the game and release a review is if you get lucky and manage to purchase a copy yourself from a store before the games release date.

Aren't they confident of their own product? I mean, if they don't want early reviews without release, I'd be thinking twice before buying the game.

Lolll, Oh Ubisoft... Keep it up guys and maybe one day, you can be the worst company in the world!
