PS4/Xbone prices are lower than their predecessors. I believe that's the reason for this. No $599 console time.

Correct, and sort of my point actually. Back in the 7th gen, Wii took a good portion of the market leaving relatively little to PS3/X360. Now, PS4/Xbone don't have that problem.

I think many were ready for this generation and price point is reasonable. Question will be if 2015 see the increase I expect with the big titles releasing.

could this gen be front loaded? like the consoles were cheaper at launch so a higher % jumped ship? Could we see massive sales for the PS4 for 3-4 years and then it tapers off? Same with the X1 just on a smaller scale...
