Forums - Sales - Xbox One sells 1 Million in the UK, outsells PS4 3 Weeks in a row

Ninsect said:

I'd say 140-150k since I expect week ending Nov 15 to be pretty big (40-50k perhaps). Not that much of a difference ultimately.

Sure, still the same outcome tho (XB1 at 1m in the uk).

Indeed. I wonder if ioi will now go into full adjustment mode for both consoles

I expect ioi saying "It is shipped. Our numbers are inline with all big trackers in Europe".

Carl, you look quite good in cosplay. Hit us with the sexyness of this ban hammer.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I don't. He can't say that anymore while holding a straight face.

Yeah, I don't believe what Microsoft says.

They're closer to 5 million sold than 10 million. I don't know why they keep tossing around this "almost 10 million shipped" number. It's obviously a PR stunt to skew public perception of their console in the holiday season.

Vgchartz isn't 100% accurate but I don't believe they're that far off. ~6.7m seems about right give or take a few hundred thousand.

Them outselling the PS4 for 3 weeks in the UK is possible though but it must not have been by very much.

This is no MS pr
It's form MCV

Maybe you should read the whole article?

"""We’re seeing fantastic momentum with Xbox One having sold almost 10 million units to retailers worldwide,” said Xbox UK marketing director Harvey Eagle.

“This momentum is reflected in the UK, particularly over the last three weeks, which is extremely encouraging as we approach the Christmas shopping period. People buy consoles to play the best games, and Xbox One is home to the best games. Halo: The Master Chief Collection is one of the highest rated next-gen console games released, Sunset Overdrive is the highest rated new franchise on any next-gen console and Forza Horizon 2 is the highest rated driving game on any next gen console.

"We have an excellent line up of games to look forward to in 2015, including Quantum Break, Fable Legends and of course Halo 5: Guardians. With some great deals to be had on the high street, now really is the best time to be an Xbox One owner."""

That's textbook Microsoft PR arrogance and all.

Maybe u should read the topic.
This topic is not about that ms pr

It's about the article. Thread only provides a preview. Keep up.

This is amazing. Seems sales are far stronger than most ppl would have you believe. All three consoles, especially ps4 and Xbox all have healthy install bases and are getting bigger all the time.

Seems this gen might just outdo last gen saleswise. Can't wait to see where sales are at a year from now.

Can people please cut down on the constant attacking of the site owner?

At best, we're presented with incomplete and confusing information - no one in this thread can claim to have a perfect understanding of the limited and ambiguous figures made available to us.

No one has claimed VGC is 100% accurate, or close to it. Vitriol targeted at the site, ioi or anyone else for that matter is unhelpful. Want to disagree with the sites numbers? Fine. But there are respectful ways to do that.

The thing is no one is complaining about weekly numbers being off, we know it is quite hard to have them right... but to claim they are right when there is plentifull of information against it. Claim a company is lying about a number, then say sold numbers are shipped isn't the way to props the site reputation.

I could be wrong, but I am quite sure that ioi has never accused any of the three manufacturers of lying in official reports?

And in the two cases discussed recently - this thread and the one about console sales in Germany - there is at best ambiguous information about whether we're dealing with shipped or sold numbers.

And again, I do not think that ioi, or anyone else, has claimed in recent history that the week-on-week numbers are 'right.' Simply within a margin of error (which, I will grant you, has gotten larger since the latest consoles launched).

But even if all of what I just said was untrue, it wouldn't be a reason to be rude or disrespectful about it.
