Enjoy that region locking!

Already circumvented, enjoying my European purchases as we speak. ;)

Cool. Now get the Netflix app and go to www.getflix.com.au if you haven't got Netflix already. Wii U i the best way to enjoy it IMO.

Thanks man, will check it out.

See my post up above.  I've been doing this to buy games from the UK eshop since Trine 2 came out.

I've encountere no adverse effects whatsoever.  Basically there is no hardware or software differences between the European and Australian WiiU.  It simply uses two bits of information to determine which version of the E-shop to connect you to. The nationality of your NNID and the console 'Country of Residence' that you nominate on setup, neither of these things are fixed.

I'm assuming the only thing stopping us from connecting to the US or Japanese e-shops is those countries aren't selectable (probably just a software mask) in the 'Country of Residence' on our consoles.

Cool, thanks.

One last question, where are you getting your eshop points from? I assume it wont accept local credit cards like my USA PSN account.

My Australian debit card worked just fine.

1. Create a secondary NNID that lives in the UK.

2. Change your console 'country of residence' to UK in console settings.

3. Switch user to your newly created UK NNID (if you're not already logged in as them) - note: your icons may have changed position don't worry about it.

4. Launch e shop!

5. Buy (remember prices are in pounds).

6. Close e-shop BUT wait for the download to finish. (Not sure if it matters but it seems best to leave it alone)

7. Revert your console back to Australia as country of residence.

8. Switch back to your usual NNID account. Your new game will be there and all icons will be back where they were when you started.

Thanks for the detailed info. Maybe I will use it, if the USK (Germanys Ratingboard) decides that a game I want to play is to cruel for the german audience (like Mortal Kombat: Armageddon for Wii Last Gen).
