I don't hate indies. I hate the indie supporters who get off to them and treat them like a second coming of Jesus. The same people who act like indies cannot do wrong and that bad indies dont exist and that you just have to love indies.

True. They act like every big company is evil and all indies dont care about money at all...

Yep. The same people who valiently defend the indies have no problem bashing AAA companies. They're hypocritical and the reason I detest the indie community as a whole. You cant speak bad about indies without being a monster who isnt a "real" or "true" gamer e.e

I don't hate any games.

On the other hand...

Do I think indies tend to get overrated by reviewers? - Yes
Do I appreciate most indies? - No
Do I appreciate a good indie as much as a good Triple A? - No, an indie will never achieve the greatness of a great AAA, just because of production values and scale.
Have I enjoyed a lot of indies thus far? - Yes, and there are still plenty to come!

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

This is an interesting misconception, since being indie is not influenced by amount of money poured into it. A rich man can do an indie game with AAA value.

Im just sick of the indie developers who think they've invented the correct recipe for making video games. It annoys the hell out of me. People like Phil Fish or Jonathan Blow. Not only indies though. David Cage needs a slap in the face aswell.

I really didn't think highly about indies, as most of them didn't interest me, but it turns out most games I'm looking forward to in 2015 are indies:
Hellblade
The Tomorrow Children
Wild
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
No Man's Sky
Talos Principle
Toren
Wander..........

In the end, I realized that there are much better reasons to hate on games other than being indies.
The main reason: Incomplete, bug-ridden games, especially from AAA developers/publishers

I'm personally playing through Dust: An Elysian Tail right now and it's quite good. It actually has 10+ hours of playtime and addictive gameplay

I'm sowwy, I hated on Indie devs today. After I nearly killed the final boss with ??? in Binding of Isaac, but got f***ed by an impossibly difficult enemy room on the last floor, I screamed wild curses at the devs and their mothers and everybody they love - I was only half serious, well maybe a quarter serious.

Ok, I'll give you that. But then this whole thread doesn't make sense, because most of the hate indies get are because of their smaller scope, simple graphics - just being "cheaper" than a AAA. The fact that's made by an independent studio is not really relevant.

So just to be accurate: "A small budget title (what an indie title is 99 times out of 100) will never achieve the greatness of a great big budget AAA title"

Most of the hate indies get is because of people's misconception, not because of their smaller scope. That's what I believe :)

Saying indie inmediately makes people think of these kind of games you've just named, but there's more to it than that, which is why I would like people not hate on them!
