Before this thread degrades into a pissing contest, let me be the first to point out that he's talking about their architecture, not the power difference. In that respect, he's completely right.

i honestly dont know what to even discuss here, the fact is undisputable. its not like the PS3 or 360 where anything alike, or the xb and PS2 where either.

Yup they are exactly alike, except that they have different specs CPU, different GPU, different ROPs, different TMUs, different type of RAM, different type of RAM bandwidth, some other custom hardware...etc
But yeah, other than all that they are essentially the same hardware. While we are at it, bikes and cars are essentially the same thing too. After you take out all their differences, they at least both still serve to get you from point a to point b.

Let me hopefully just snip this now before a lot of people in this thread carry on with this. He is completely wrong, especially if he is talking about their architecture. The only similarities the PS4/XB1 has are that they are both based on X86 and that the architecture of the CPU and GPU (GCN) cores are identical. The similarities end there, and where they are even similar they still somehow vastly differ cause at the end of the day they both use/talk to their chips/memory/IO completly differently.
like it like this
porting and patches and costs will be lower this gen
dev times should also be a bit shorter
they are pretty much the same thing

pretty much having PCs with different specifications
xb1 and ps4 are hella similar
tho ps4 exclsuives by guerrilla , sony santa monica , naughty dog should show the difference in the hardware
(also hoping cambridge make the next console killzone , mercenary was so so so good)

Compared to the PS3/360 or PS2/OGX, the PS4 and X1 are incredibly similar. That was his point, and the one i was trying to ensure people understood. The wording in the title could easily have turned this into a pissing context about the power difference.

I honestly think everybody knew that for over a year though.
