Forums - Nintendo - Apparently Big Red Button fell apart before Sonic Boom was even finished

oh jeez. So instead of ironing out the bugs and making a mediocre sonic game, they all abandoned ship and made the worst Sonic game in almost a decade? The worst part is that it looks like there was some nice looking environments in the game. It could have been made into something.

That's the kicker, it looks like it could have been an enjoyable game if it had recieved more polish.

I have no problem with the gameplay design personally, its just the awful framerate and abundant glitches that put me off.

Exactly! I would have rather preferred they went with the Driveclub route. Delay it for a while, iron out all the bugs, and I think it would have gotten much better reviews overall. Now we'll never know what could have been.

Sadly, I fear they were too deadset on getting it out in time for the holidays to capitalize on the launch of the TV show, so they weren't willing to delay it.

Sega needs to get the original Sonic Team back together and make a brand new 2D Sonic imo. Anything else is just fools gold.

You could continue to hold out hope for this, or you could play a brand new 2D (not-)Sonic game right now. Up to you.

I do wonder what Sega's internal team has been up to since Boom was outsourced. But I doubt it will be anything special.

Ouch, that's rather tragic but explains the unfinished state.

Daily reminder that there were posters on here that thought the game looked good :^)

I maintain that it would have been good if not for the unfinished state it was released in.

If the glitches and framerate were fixed, I'd buy it.

argh. That's silly. Videogames have come out after the show plenty of times. And besides its not like they are doing much to pimp the show. Last I saw it came on at like 5am. I have to DVR it because its certainly not in a prime spot. They would have been better off delaying both of them until the game was up to snuff and they could find a better time slot or network for it.

Agreed. I'm normally against delays, but in this case one was sorely needed, the game was simply incomplete.

Between this, Total War: Rome 2 and Colonial Marines it's clear that SEGA just suck at project management...
